And runways were made of grass.

    So?
How much is it for feb 2016?

    • I was cycling in -20F wind chill in Maryland on Valentines Day weekend. It didn’t seem very hot.

    • It was much colder in 2016. That is a tiny part of the problem though. Warmists claim it was not warm during the 30s. Their problem is the observational data from the Nat’l Weather Serv. says it was warmer than at any time since.
The period 1926-1945 was, on average, significantly warmer than more recently. Tough to pretend “Global Warming” happened when the NWS and the Central England (likely the two best data sets to use) observations show the temp trend is DOWN since WWII. Warmists are faking things to hide the fact of cooling.

  3. There was a bad drought that year, but the effects do not correlate well with the economic disaster of beer being made a felony. Hoover shifted blame to the drought, but the Mississippi flood of 1927 caused hardly a ripple in the way of bank failures or stock market panics. The drought map is in Herb Hoover’s papers for that year.

according to my calculations, feb 1930= feb 2017
do you know how was the temp. in feb 1929?

  5. Andy DC says:

Washington, DC reached 84 degrees during February 1930, their all time record high for the month.
If you look at most of DC’s record high monthly temperatures, most were a long time ago. Only one in the 21st Century.

Why have these temps not been “adjusted’? Someone is asleep on the job!

    • Not necessarily. They could all be wide awake but engaged in turf battles and competence fights. Who can adjust the temperature record the best? Who’s done it before? NOAA, NASA, Bureau of Indian Affairs, NSA, BLM, Google, CIA, FBI, DMV, DOD’s Corporate Social Responsibility, DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, Joint Chiefs of Staff or Mikey? I didn’t leave anyone out on purpose. I’m sure there is more.
