    Great music!
Does the beat match the short records?
Are there enough long records to assess a long term trend?

Not at all what I was expecting. The title made me think of Ravel’s Bolero, but I didn’t expect this!

    Great work Tony!

LOL. A comment below in that link: “I eat my burgers with straws, just to damage the climate all the more”

Is anyone else tired of the constant parade of the mentally ill and social misfits the “media” is subjecting us to? It’s going to be a long, long, long, run up to Tuesday, Nov 3, 2020.

I haven’t had time to watch the entire thing, but what I have seen confirms my worst suspicions. Most of the temperature records for Canada no longer exist. Only a handful appear to be long term, and from my personal searches, virtually none can be considered pristine or unaltered.

Thanks Tony. I think Canadians may need you more than anyone.

Please do more to expose the madness up here.

In Feb 2019, I downloaded the GNCN daily pub database (.dly files) and ran a utility program that selected stations with at least 30 valid summer and winter TMIN and TMAX entries for each year 1925 thru 2018. That filtered the list of 100,000+ stations to 550, most in the US, 10 in Canada:
    CA001017230 48.6500 -123.6333 138.0 CN SHAWNIGAN LAKE
    CA001092970 54.4500 -124.2833 691.0 CN FORT ST JAMES
    CA001100120 49.2500 -121.7667 15.0 CN AGASSIZ CDA
    CA001143900 49.9167 -116.9167 600.0 CN KASLO
    CA001168520 51.5833 -119.7833 445.0 CN VAVENBY
    CA004013480 50.5500 -103.6500 579.0 CN INDIAN HEAD CDA
    CA004047240 52.3667 -108.8333 660.0 CN SCOTT CDA
    CA005031320 49.6167 -95.2000 327.0 CN INDIAN BAY
    CA006105976 45.3833 -75.7167 79.0 CN OTTAWA CDA
    CA007024280 45.3667 -71.8167 181.0 CN LENNOXVILLE

I ran the same filter against GHCND downloaded today, which identified 555 stations, 0 in Canada. For at least one station (CA001092970) all of the 2018 summer temperatures in the Sept version were invalidated or deleted (vs Feb version). WTH?

I tried to post a graphic with a previous post but was blocked. Maybe this one will work?

FWIW, after a few emails, NOAA confirmed the disappearance:

“The missing data were caused by a problem in our data feed from Environment Canada. I am working to get the values restored but it will be a number of days before they reappear GHCNd.”

Keep up the good work Tony, you’re killing it!
