The Knockout Punch

“There are lies., damned lies, and statistics”
– Mark Twain

“It will be remembered as the greatest mass delusion in the history of the world – that CO2, the life of plants, was considered for a time to be a deadly poison.”

In 1974, there was unanimous consensus among scientists that earth had been cooling since the 1940s.

Fast forward forty-five years. A small group of people, many of whom who were not alive in 1974, have determined they know more about the weather in 1974 than the scientists who lived through it and studied it at the time.

Zeke Hausfather, who openly brags about being a left-wing activist, is one of those people. He believes that adding tens of thousands of very low quality fragmented records into the database, has improved the quality of the temperature record.

It is simple enough to test out which version of the pre-1980 temperature record is better. The version made by the people who lived through it, or the younger people now who are paid to generate graphs which show a lot of warming.  We can compare the two versions vs. historical accounts of ice and other observations.

It’s amazing how many people even today use a computer to do something you can do with a pencil and paper in less time.
– Richard P. Feynman

“Have no respect whatsoever for authority; forget who said it and instead look what he starts with, where he ends up, and ask yourself, “Is it reasonable?”
– Richard P. Feynman

“The test of all knowledge is experiment. Experiment is the sole judge of scientific truth.”

We have a number of historical data points. Let’s plot them on the different graphs and see which make sense. In the 1974 NCAR graph, ice melts at high temperatures, and forms at low temperatures.

But in the current NASA graph, Ice melts at low temperatures, and forms at high temperatures. This makes no sense and shows us that the graph is bogus.

Climate scientists colluded to make these worthless graphs.

If we look at only high quality temperature data from Australia, the graph makes sense.

But the official BOM graph makes no sense.

The 1979 US temperature graph from NASA made sense.

The current version makes no sense.

It is crystal clear that current official temperature graphs are nonsense.

Government funded scientists say the Arctic is warming at an astonishing rate.

Scientists released this year’s Arctic Report Card on Tuesday, and it is a dismal one. Researchers say the Arctic continues to warm up at rates they call “astonishing.”

Almost 70 years ago, experts used the exact same words.

Dr. William S. Carlson, an Arctic expert, said last night that Polar icecaps were melting at an astonishing and unexplained rate and threatening to swamp seaports by raising ocean levels.

“The glaciers of Norway and Alaska,” he said, “are only half the size they were 50 years ago.”

Dr. Willett was spot on. We need real scientists like Willet and Walter Orr Roberts – not arrogant hacks like Mann and Hausfather.

21 Jul 1974, 13 – The Des Moines Register at

Scientists now claim that a 0.0001 mole fraction increase in CO2 over the past century controls the climate.  This is because the Sun can’t be controlled, scientists can’t pretend they know how to prevent bad weather, and politicians can’t use sunspots as an excuse to raise taxes and control energy policy.

The 1:10,000 increase in atmospheric CO2 over the past century is equivalent to packing an extra two people into Madison Square Garden

People like Hausfather have been using bad data to promote imaginary climate change for over 150 years. Time to bring this episode to an end.

I like the Feynman quotes. He reminds us what science really is. I don’t know Zeke but he seems like the poster child of the Internet generation who thinks that because he has a forum, what he has to say is important and correct. Not all opinions are equally valid. Zeke and his ilk have demonstrated that they should shut up and listen. He/they have much to learn.

I finally saw a clip of Greta wailing and it was both disgusting and embarrassing. People who back her have absolutely no sense of the ridiculous. But then, those who pull down civilization rarely do. It’s hard to actually watch the lowest common denominator in action.

Keep hammering Tony, it will crack.

  2. John F. Hultquist says:

The last item – Imaginary changes of climate –
    includes “ … a plentiful crop of speculation …
This is as true today as in 1871. A classic line.

“The ground on which Aklavik stands, on the delta of the Mackenzie River within the Arctic Circle, is composed largely of ice particles. If a thaw occurs, . . . the land may subside . . .”

    From Wikipedia: Aklavik
” Building conditions at the time (1960s) considered to be unsuitable (primarily due to flooding) resulted in the development of Inuvik 63 km (39 mi) to the east, meant to entirely replace Aklavik. However, many residents persevered and kept Aklavik as a community, with a 2016 population of nearly 600. ”

If you have time, here is a photo look at Inuvik, the new town.

  4. Jeff L. says:

    Apparently “science” is now politics.

    On Reuters today:
Scientists endorse mass civil disobedience to force climate action
    Matthew Green

LONDON (Reuters) – Almost 400 scientists have endorsed a civil disobedience campaign aimed at forcing governments to take rapid action to tackle climate change, warning that failure could inflict “incalculable human suffering.”

    • Archie says:

If they can’t “win” with the science they turn to bullying.

    • John L Kelly says:

They should spend a couple of weeks reading/studying Tony Heller’s recent articles, and his HUGE collection of past articles, going all the way back to the 19th century. Maybe they would see how climate is forever changing,……up, down, up, down, up…………………………….

  5. Archie says:

I watched a video that said the temperature graphs are now mixing ocean temperatures in with the land temperatures. This explains why the graphs may look so different. It’s apples and oranges though and just another spin on the fraud. The same presentation showed no temperature rise for the past 19 years.

Nobel Laureate Smashes the Global Warming Hoax:

He has the same approach as Tony but not as polished or comprehensive. And, unlike Mann, he’s a real Nobel Laureate!

    • Mark A Luhman says:

You can’t add bad data to bad data and get good data. You need to look at the data and throw out the bad and when you do that state why you did it. Once you have an assemblage of stations that have not moved and been there a long time you might have something you can work with. As far as the ocean temperature data, not useable under any cirimstance it is all random.

  6. Jl says:

I believe the “1979 US temp graph from NASA made sense” should read 1999.

  7. Bob G says:

One of these clips Tells of the glaciers in glacier Park Montana. As I’ve written before the glaciers in glacier Park Montana are only 3000 years old they are not remnants from the last ice age how do I know this? The park literature Google it. I want to add recall I’m 60 years old recall 50 years ago young people were skeptics they’re not anymore now they’re gullible they take everything in Hook line & sinker my daughter’s boyfriend 20 years old when I told him about only hellers website first thing he did as Google and said oh he’s a right winger and he likes Breitbart or Breitbart likes him so he’s no good that’s how young people think. Young people these days are gullible they’re not the skeptics of 50 years ago

  8. Patrick says:

You give Zeke too much credit. He simply manipulates the data as they all do. Looks like you gave him all of the attention he wanted. In watching his YouTube videos you can tell how dishonest he is, but that’s what he does and how he works. Zeke isn’t old enough to understand the error of his ways. You just increased his exposure by 100%.

Too many well meaning media outlets getting attention by drawing in opposing views. Just another wedge between chaotic progressives (aka mostly Democrats) and fact-based science. I wish the government/”We the People” could figure out how to explain this without too much slant on the politics. At least try and have a meaningful debate.

  9. I don’t know where you find the time to do this Tony but I’m very grateful you do. Please persist.

  10. John Farnham says:

I’ll add my thanks. This blog and your YouTube videos tend to blow me away.

  11. Ulric Lyons says:

The NCAR graph is too cool in the 1880-1890’s, the warm AMO phase then is why the glaciers had been receding for a couple of decades previous to 1903..
