    “And you vill like it.”

Mealworms go well with Norway rat.

    • Charles Higley says:

You cannot call it “insect meat” as you are eating the whole thing. You can talk about the protein content but you are also eating all the other organ equivalents that we do not eat from cows or pigs.

How digestible is chitin to humans? Perhaps, but there is a wide range of opinion, form NO it maybe. We do not eat shrimp tails because they can perforate the GI tract on the way through, with chewed pieces possibly having more sharp edges.

We have have some ability to digest chitin but not enough to thoroughly break it down before it can hurt us.

  2. Tina says:

Eh, maybe grasshoppers – out of spite for their destruction of my garden LOL

Aren’t these the same people who claimed recently “vanishing insects” are disappearing “at an alarming rate” and could cause “collapse of nature” ? Their Left hand doesn’t know what their other Left hand is doing!

  3. Mac says:

I don’t know how it could not be completely obvious that the fictional climate change nonsense is nothing but an attempt to destroy the western world’s standard of living. Lefties are consumed with the silly and infantile idea that every single person on the planet should be exactly equal in every way, so how dare we Americans have steak and pork chops while the poor peasants in Myanmar are eating bugs.

  4. Gator says:

    NOTHING is better than Bacon!

Acorns were good until bread was found.
    -Francis Bacon

  5. In 1980 we raised meat crickets and hunted for waxmoths to raise per a recipe in Ron Taylor’s “Butterflies in My Stomach” (which cost $80). The hardest part was getting batteries for the odd voltages in my US Navy Geiger counter–that and getting homemade charged-tinfoil radiation meters patterned out of Cresson Kearny’s “Nuclear War Survival Skills” to work in Texas humidity while worrying over estimates of throw weights and communist empire fusion bomb stockpiles. Times are sooo much better now. The worst they can do is infiltrate Congress and ban electric power plants.

  6. scott allen says:

Before man (either Europeans or “native” americans) came to the americas there were 70-90 million buffalo/bisons. These buffalo were eating the same things that modern cattle now feed on in the great plains. There are about 90 to 100 million modern cattle in the region now.
Buffalo are 1 1/2 to 2 times bigger in size than modern cattle and thus gave off more CO2 and methane, then modern cattle.
In addition modern cattle, after a summer grazing on grass (land that is not useful for anything but pasture and would give off CO2 if not eaten by the cattle and the land is not useful in human food production ) the cattle are shipped to finishing lots where they are fed DDG, which is corn that is leftover after making ethanol and would be thrown away (left to rot and give off CO2 and methane) if the cattle didn’t eat it.
Yet scientists claim that eating meat is bad for the environment, yet this seems to be a very effective use of the land and most environmentally friendly.

  7. This was written in 2011, so what happened to the bug diet? Oh that’s right, they’ve killed most of the insects off by spraying them to death with poisons so they’ve scrubbed that idea. Now they’re making fake meat instead. The world is be run by a bunch of complete lunatics IMHO. As for vegans!! Have they not watched a plants roots seeking food? Do they not think of the plant as they wrench it from the ground ALIVE, chop it up ALIVE, cook and eat it ALIVE. Plants are intelligent beings as well that communicate with each other and that around them. At least with meat the creature is dead when consumed. I know, sounds stupid, but then most of what I hear these days from the ‘powers that be’ are completely nonsensicle rubbish that I’m supposed to believe as truth and live my life by it. Thanks again for your awesome truths Tony.
