From May 21-25, 1922 Paris averaged 91F, which is more than twenty degrees above average.


26 May 1922, 16 – Springfield News-Sun at

England had two weeks of far above normal temperatures.


This was a continuation of the record heat of 1921.

Switzerland’s Lake Morat dried up.

    Can you imagine what would happen if we had a heatwave like this in 2022? -shudder!

    My understanding of a heatwave on the Northern Hemisphere is a cold air depression driving Hot air from the south to a place it is not normal higher up north. So for Europe it would mean that the Azore High in summer is replaced by a cold depression.
