The Day The Science Died

NASA’s James Hansen started the global warming scare before Congress on June 23, 1988. It was the hottest June 23 on record, and was an outlier from the eighty year cooling trend.

“On Thursday (June 23, 1988) Hansen became the first climatologist to declare publicly that a major culprit in this year’s warmth is the greenhouse effect, a kind of atmospheric warm blanket made thicker by gases that billow up unnoticed from wherever human beings live and work.

By doing everyday things like driving cars and clearing forests, people send up carbon dioxide and other “greenhouse gases” that stay aloft for decades, Like the walls of a greenhouse — or the windows of a closed car in summer — these gases allow sunlight in to warm the Earth, but trap much of the resulting heat before it can rebound back into space”

One day, when you look at the meaning of a “Chicken Little” you will find the example of James Hansen.

Opience is what Hason does … Opinion presented as “science”

“Like the walls of a greenhouse — or the windows of a closed car in summer …”

That’s the “simple physics” of the alarmists. Utterly false, purposely misleading, and repeated ad infinitum by unquestioning media stooges.

And here we are 34 years later squandering trillions on unreliable energy generation and turning away from God’s gift to mankind — fossilized solar energy in the form of coal, oil, and natural gas.

    The stupid – it burns!

I would like to add a paragraph:
CO2 billowing with all the might it can muster. At 4 parts per 10,000, it’s dome of doom is stretched quite then, but like superheroes, the molecules reach out to one another and link bonds to form their impenetrable barrier.
At the bottom there should be a disclaimer:
This is why people with no inclination to think rationally should not try to understand or explain science.

      +1

I am a former believer in the junk science of AGW.

A yuge non sequitur – CO2 is heavier than air. CO2 doesn’t “billow up”. It drops to the surface and the heaviest concentrations are down at the ground where they fertilize plant life. There is no “sent up” CO2-caused blanket above. The predicted “hot spot” never materialized. CO2-caused, anthropogenic global warming is junk science at its worst.

    • GWS says:

But the bonds are not impenetrable. They trap only certain wavelengths of solar radiation and reradiate much of it back and also into space, and beyond a certain level it all goes out into space. It’s not a glass ceiling like in a greenhouse. Not at all. But the left continues to present it as such and the lazy minded believe it without questioning, and pay the scam money in good faith that they are doing good for the Earth. Altruism is a trap.

Isn’t it funny too how they call this the greenhouse effect. Greenhouses operate by preventing convection. The atmosphere operates through the process of convection.

I do remember the summer of 1988. I had recently relocated there in the town of Milford, PA located in the amazingly beautiful Pocono Mountains. It was an extremely warm/hot summer with not a lot of rainy days. I remember the stark contrast of clear blue skies almost everyday compared to those in Pittsburgh on the other side of the state where I spent most of my life.

I also remember that when Hanson prepared for his presentation, he locked the windows to the hearing room and disabled the air conditioning to emphasize his chicanery.

He’s done very nicely out of it.
    “JAMES HANSEN NET WORTH
James Hansen net worth and salary: James Hansen is a Environmentalist who has a net worth of $17 Million. James Hansen was born in in March 29, 1941. Best known for his research on climate change, he taught in Columbia University’s Earth and Environmental Sciences Department. “
