As a child of the 50s the only time I heard about China back then was when there was a natural disaster or my grandmother told me to clean my plate because Chinese kids were starving – I obeyed and wonder how may Chinese are alive today because of my grandmothet.

My grandmother told me the same – about our Neighbors.

Though I’m pretty sure they’d still be alive if I gave my plate to them instead of cleaning it.

Didn’t they have a very cold year, either last year or a few years ago? Seems like the more coal they burn, the colder it gets. Maybe Mann’s theory is the inverse on the opposite side of the world?

If we’d be still living in the ice age scare era ,
Mann would use China as ultimate proof of global cooling –
and he’d came up with bamboo tree rings to proof his point.

Btw – China is doing all the right things with the new power plants .
If there is warming and drought they will need all energy for air conditioning and desalination plants.
If there is cooling they will need more energy anyway.
