Pls answer the following, genuine, question. Is gradually COOLING temperature over the past few decades the APPROPRIATE adjustment. Cooling would remove the urban heat island effect, and multiple studies show UHI raises MEASURED temperature during the day & night.
I would never recommend adjusting the data. “Adjustments” introduce preconceived biases.

Yeah clown. Whenever I check the temp on my thermometer I bump it up five degrees…. because I arbitrarily assume the collected data from that instrument – which was specifically designed to determine temperature – must be incorrect.
There is nothing wrong with the data, and tampering with it is fraud.
It’s interesting that they blame the old timers for being too stupid to measure temperatures correctly, and they then NON-uniformly manipulate those temperatures downward. Then they turn around and take the very temperature readings which THEY are in charge of measuring correctly, and they manipulate them NON-uniformly upward. Are they tacitly admitting that they are too stupid to measure the temperature correctly themselves? Even with all of their modern technologies? If so, why trust them to get it right on their second try?
Data is only data once, when it is collected. Once data has been “adjusted” (or destroyed), it is no longer data, it is an artifact of analysis. A man-made myth.

This is like my freshman high school algebra class: It’s firmly embedded in my brain. Altering the data is just one of their scams. If I’ve understood correctly, they’ve decommissioned rural temperature stations, as well. And they average urban temperatures over those rural areas to replace those stations. It seems there is no end to their methods of tampering with the temperature data set. It would be interesting if the Heritage Institute were to go in and reestablish those rural stations that were dropped. I would expect that a temperature station could be established fairly cheaply these days, complete with transmission.
Funny thing! A few days again, I was at the home of a global warming believer (actually a well-educated engineer) and he told me that it was so hot near Mexico City that monkeys were falling out of the trees. Also southern India. I immediately thought about the terrible drought/ hot spell in the 1880s in India, about which Tony has posted many times. I also checked on the temperature in Mexico as soon as I was back home. Who knew that 88F would knock monkeys out of the trees? Well, I guess it is possible because the weather department announced that we are entering an extreme heat event. Today’s temperature will reach 74F. Tuesday we will reach 90, our first 90 degree day this year. Wednesday 95, then 87, 82, and Saturday 75. The summer heat is so CO2 enhanced this year!

I noticed at 22.30 local time that the electric radiator in our downstairs back bedroom on the north side of the house is heating on the thermostat and off peak time switch.
It’s on the same temperature setting we use for winter and this is the 2nd of June.…!!!

That supports my contention that just a few people can disprove many, if not most of the hottest day ever, hottest month ever claims. The region where I live, Northern California, has been cooler than normal. I say this without tracking temperature measurements. I know it by my garden, my thermostat, and by noticing the number of 90 degree days and the 100 degree days. From this mixture of qualitative and limited quantitative information, I can assert that this region is cooler than it was several years ago, when I noticed the very same things. If someone from somewhere else chimes in and says that northern France is also cooler than normal, and someone from somewhere else, reports the same, then it doesn’t take long before we’ve proven that it cannot be the hottest day ever or the hottest month ever. It can’t be the hottest ever when a handful of places are cooler than normal, because then it requires that everywhere else is much hotter than normal to make the over all average the hottest ever. This is particularly true if the places reporting cooling are in Europe, in the US, and in Australia, because they have the only records that go back far enough to make the hottest ever comparison.
