First week of August is going to be interesting. Mr Obama seemingly hasn’t worked out that TEA stands for ‘taxed enough already’. So Tea Party GOP reps cannot possibly accept tax rises in a compromise because they would betray their own political base in such an obvious and blatant way they’d be out the door in a microsecond. Asking a politician to save their political enemy by committing political suicide is not going to be an especially winning argument. As I said, it’ll be interesting.
It must be something nihilistic in that side of politics right now, since the latest Newspoll here in Oz has Ms Gillard breaking the record for worst poll numbers ever. And that was taken before the carbon tax announcement of Sunday.
