Nearly a fifth of the contiguous United States has been faced with the worst drought in recent years.
Joe being the charlatan that he is, didn’t bother to mention that drought conditions have been much worse in the past – on many occasions.

Breaking news! We are having the worst drought here all year!*
*In terms of total evapotranspiration (heat and moisture). Some other qualifiers may apply. I am not responsible for the accuracy of this comment as current CO2 levels may have impaired my memory, or improved it, or disrupted it.
Why didn’t Joe plot CO2 on his graph? We could have then seen that in February 2010, CO2 dropped to 260 PPM.
Now we are being told that weather before 2006 never existed and that 20% of the country having a drought is UNPRECEDENTED, when in 1934 it was 80%!
Everything is caused by global warming these days.
Last year the National League won the World Series and the All Star game. Would that happen without SUVs and CO2? No way.
One good huricane caused by global warming will fix that whole drought problem.

Where did you get that last chart, I can’t find it.
Never mind, I copied the url on icecap instead of clicking on the link on this page- doh!
Well, gee, Romm’s graph shows only “extreme” and “exceptional” drought conditions, and yours shows “moderate” as well. Not to mention, your numbers are for the contiguous 48 states–Alaska and Hawaii weren’t included early on. Finally, your chart doesn’t show which index it’s using. Is it the Palmer Z? The PDSI? The PMDI? The PHDI? And do you even know the difference?
How about an apples-to-apples comparison instead of a dishonest ploy to slide another lie by the more gullible readers of your blog?
Please. The 1930s was a much worse drought. Stop hyperventilating. It is really annoying.

Gee Jim, how wonderful of you to come by cast dispersions towards every one that reads here a bit, but I don’t really need Steve to tell me the current dry conditions in the U.S. isn’t something to run around a panic about.
I generally view these types of posts as for the ignorant masses that don’t typically educate themselves,. (The typical commentator here is well educated and informed.) Steve is doing a public a service by giving some readers an ability to discern reality from hyperbole.
Now, there are some, in spite of the reality given, simply refuse to believe. Those would be of the willfully ignorant sort. None can serve as a better example than you.
Thanks for popping by. Come back when you have something substantive to offer. Thanks.

Now we’re being insulted by a superior gullible 10 year old……………
Romm is a total joke. He is completely delusional with regards to “weather vs climate”. A lot of AGW alarmists are, but he is the extreme end of the spectrum. While people like NOAA come out and say that the tornadoes were caused by favorable synoptic setup induced by La Nina, Romm still tries to blame it on AGW. LOL. Any complete moron could see that La Nina conditions favor tornado outbreaks, but it would be an insult to morons to group this guy in with them.
