In much of the US, potential criminals are thwarted by the fact that most homes have a gun. Only a complete idiot would attempt to break into a house where there is potentially a 12 gauge shotgun or a hollow point bullet waiting for them on the other side of the door.
“the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”
This knowledge prevents countless numbers of break ins, rapes and other potentially dangerous confrontations every year. The following statement is completely obvious at several levels.
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns
I was listening to taxpayer funded PBS last night, and they were discussing how we could “finally ban guns” in the US. They mentioned the large number of existing guns as an obstacle, but didn’t bother to mention the US Constitution.
