Does Jerry Brown imply that snow melt in the California mountains East of SF is going to increase sea levels there? if so, we are lost – due to total stupidity. I have lived in the Everett, Wa. area for 33 years and the high tide mark at the marina has never been breeched to this day, and we have routine 12-13 foot tides (max).
If you tilt your head to the right, you’ll see a slight uptrend in sea levels. Just be careful walking around like that in public.

On a more serious note, in Australia we recently had the report that sea levels are rising 3 mm/yr in the east and 10 mm/yr in the west. This makes perfect sense to mathematicians in the AGW religion and none whatsoever to anyone else. Global Warming has now outdone David Copperfield in defying physics. The crazy thing was, not one Australian physicist or climate scientist spoke up to say “bullsh!t”. Maybe they didn’t want to lose their jobs.
Some warmist on the ABC Drum later commented on the report that this was quite plausible with Climate Change causing sea levels to rise faster in some regions of the world than others. WTF? That is the level that “climate science” is at!!! My head is exploding at how ignorant these people are. I could have suggested they try the clear hose and water experiment, but it took me 3 days to recover from the shock. I’m still flabbergasted.

Yeah, exploding heads! I also looked at that Oz sea-level rise, obviously (unless the ones getting the data were drunk) was the coast was sinking. But it made me wonder if that data was going into the IPCC database. And what else was going in that the government(s) were using.
Here’s a scary thought: we recognize BS here, because we are focused on the issue. What else is there that is going on that is just as bad, but we don’t realise it?
Not that it matters: we all went to war in Iraq over false WMD that they knew were false, but it really didn’t matter. Nobody got in trouble, except for the Plames, who reported the truth to one politician too many.
What I’d like to know: do these people (including Gillard) CARE if they are spouting nonsense? Does Obama? Are their personal standards so such that truth, manipulations are all equally good?

I’ve been living on the coast in California in the San Francisco Bay Area for forty-plus years, and I can also say I’ve seen no sea level rise in all that time. I go down to the bay shore or the ocean every week and the same rocks and beaches and mud flats are still there, year in and year out.
Mud flats are a good barometer of rise. In the bay there is always a stretch of mud at low tide, yet the waves wash up on sand at high tide. This happens twice in each twenty-four hour period. If sea level were rising, the bay would be drowned at both low and high. Those who insist on catastrophic rise don’t seem to notice this.
I live in the coastal town of Alameda. The city council here just chose a new management firm to redo the golf course because that firm pledged to bring in massive amounts of soil to raise the greens and fairways by ten feet, because the city was worried that rising sea level would inundate the course and ruin the investment. They didn’t seem worried about the 10,000 or so people who live in houses between the course and the bay side. Tough decisions some people have, hey? Every time a big winter storm washes sand off the beach, they want to bring in more sand to replace it, not realizing that the old sand has just been dragged offshore beneath the rough waves, and will wash back up with the gentle waves of the stormless summer. It will end up right back where it was before. Their analysis of these things reminds me of what Steve used to say about turnips.
