A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.  He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.

U.N. Predicts Disaster if Global Warming Not Checked

Today was the coldest October 7th in Phoenix in at least 100 years. Average temperature for the date is 93 degrees, and I was riding my bike this evening with a jacket on.

During the week of October 4-10, 1939 – Madison, Indiana was over 90 degrees every day, and reached 100 degrees on October 8, 1939.  Madison afternoon temperatures average about ten degrees cooler on October 6 now than they did during the 1930s.

On October 7, 1871 much of Minnesota and Wisconsin were burning.

September used to be a hot month in the US, but September afternoon temperatures plummeted about 60 years ago, and never recovered. The hottest Septembers occurred during the 1920s and 1930s, when atmospheric CO2 was below 310 PPM.
