Ten Years Of Pulling Back The Curtain On Junk Science

Ten years ago this week, I wrote an article in The Register titled “Arctic ice refuses to melt as ordered.

All of the world’s leading experts were predicting the North Pole or the entire Arctic would be ice-free between 2008 and 2018.

Ten years later, Serreze, Borenstein, Flannery and the New York Times are still pimping the exact same BS, and wondering why nobody is listening to them.

Will we see an ice-free North Pole in 2018?

On the phone with Serreze, the veteran journalist Seth Borenstein lamented, “How many times can a journalist report on what is happening in the Arctic before it becomes so repetitive that people lose interest?”

The area of the Arctic covered with thick sea ice has expanded vastly since I wrote my article ten years ago, and sea ice volume is fourth highest for the date since 2003.

I was correct ten years ago, and all the experts were wrong. So Google and YouTube accuse me of spreading misinformation, while they promote the people who spread the same nonsense year after year after year.

But that is what fake news is all about.

The Japanese Urban Heat Island

Japan is a small country with a very high population density, dominated by large cities like Tokyo.

Most of the GHCN stations there are urban, and show a strong summer warming trend since the 1950’s.

There was a large jump in summer temperatures at the very hot summer of 1994.

I did some analysis of this trend, and noticed that stations away from Tokyo tend to show little of no summer warming since 1994, but stations in and near Tokyo show a lot of warming.

Away from Tokyo, cooling or little warming.

Tokyo – warming.

It looks to me like all of the summer warming in Japan since at least 1994 is due to urban heat island effects – as the population grows, the number of cars grow, the use of air conditioning grows, the amount of asphalt grows, etc.  This is quite likely the same problem with many other countries.

The only large temperature record I trust is the US, and that one is massively tampered with to comply with the global warming scam.

Little Change In Arctic Ice Extent Since Yesterday

NSIDC shows almost no change in Arctic sea ice extent since yesterday.

Japanese Stations

I’ve been looking at Japanese thermometers on Google Earth, and the vast majority of them are located in catastrophically bad locations on or near asphalt in the middle of large urban areas. One exception is at Miyako, about 300 miles north of Tokyo.  They show very little if any summer warming.

Compare vs. Kyoto, where the station is located in the middle of an urban jungle, and temperatures are warming.

No Trend In French Summer Temperatures

The average afternoon summer temperature in France is about the same as 100 years ago, as is the frequency of hot days. This summer has been unusual not because of the number of hot days, but rather a lack of cool days. Very similar to the situation in the US.

The number of stations has increased quite a bit, and the average latitude has moved towards the equator by more than two degrees, which probably accounts for the entire warming trend since 1955.  This is the sort of garbage in the GHCN record which makes the global temperature record meaningless.

August 12, 1936 : Hottest Day On Record In Texas And Oklahoma

August 12, 1936 was the hottest day on record in Texas and Oklahoma. at 120 degrees.  It was 119 in Kansas that day, and 111 in Nebraska and Missouri.  Oklahoma hit 120 degrees on four days that summer.

On this date in 1944, almost the entire US was over 90 degrees, with 100 degree temperatures from Washington state to Maine.

There was also a big heatwave in the central plains on this date in 1913 – the year California set the world’s record temperature of 134 degrees..

August 12th afternoon temperatures have plummeted in the US over the past century, as has the frequency of hot days.

But never mind the cold.  Experts say Australia “could” get really hot.

If we keep pumping CO2 into the atmosphere, Australia might even get as hot as it was when CO2 was below 300 PPM.

Plummeting August 11th Temperatures In The US

August 11th afternoon temperatures have plummeted in the US over the past century. This day in 1944 was the hottest day on record in Bernie’s home town of Burlington, Vermont – at 101 degrees.

On this date in 1944, almost two-thirds of the US was over 90 degrees.

On this date in 1935 and 1944, forty-two percent of the US was over 95 degrees.

On this date in 1935, more than one-fourth of the US was over 100 degrees.

Three weeks later was the most intense hurricane in US history.

The climate is much better know, but leftists are just as insane as they were in 1935 – completely off the rails.
