Despite a global decrease in the production of certain toxic chemicals, we may be in for an onslaught.
That’s because rising global temperatures are causing the release of persistent organic pollutants, such as DDT and PCBs, which have been locked in arctic ice for more than half a century.
The only way this could happen would be if the ice had been thickening for the last half century. Thinning ice wouldn’t have accumulated chemicals.
How did those so-called “persistent organic pollutants” get trapped in the ice in the first place?
“The only way this could happen would be if the ice had been thickening for the last half century.”
Excellent point!
Surely there must be some form of seasonal growth ring in Arctic ice that can serve as a proxy for ice age, thickness, etc. What we need is a study that extrapolates temperature and precipitation data. Obviously, this new data will be displayed in a new ice hockey stick graph.
If a party promised to close down all climate science institutes for the next 50 years, i would vote for them. I’m really fed up with the rent seekers in these institutes and their constant stream of half-truths and lies. They just don’t deserve my money. They should work like everyone else.
Except for the occasional glacier, most of the Arctic sea ice melts during the summer as does all of the land based snow. During the winter all the available moisture is trapped by newly forming sea ice and there is very little left to precipitate out as snow. So what arctic ice are they referring to?
In their virtual world, Any thing is possible! All you need is a good imagination and you to can see their “Visions”. Maybe a few “Designer Drugs” to get you in the MOOD!
That’s marketing gramps
I’ll explain how all this works but don’t you dare censor me Steve (please)

Baa Humbug, you’re a [snip]
😉
Well, it depends on whether they’re talking about PCBs in Arctic sea ice, or in land ice.
In Arctic sea ice, I’d say no, there’s no floating ice that old. Eventually it grinds and works and drifts its way out the door.
But for land ice, it certainly seems possible. Both glaciers and ice caps are in essence very slow rivers of ice. New layers are constantly added at the the top and melted off at the bottom. So DDT and PCBs could certainly be found there.
My best to all,

next: a study indicating large quantities of cocaine trapped in land-based ice will be released by global warming and get everybody f*cking high, possibly murderous
Naw, that’s when the angel dust gets released.
lol, Willis, I like the thinking, but I’m guessing we’re all pretty safe……. even our feathered friends. Did we use DDT in the arctic?
Sad though, one day, they’re going to say something real important and we’ll still laugh at them. Mind you, I don’t count on it being anytime soon, but maybe….. one day.
Hey! It could happen!!! No!! Seriously!!!
