   While the reporter was reluctant to dismiss him as a crackpot, he should have stuck with his gut feeling like the rest of the real world

   “..Ehrlich seems to be remarkably cheerful..” This could be because:

   His insanity causes him to smile all the time.
   He’s laughing because he’s happy about how easily journalists swallow his nonsense.
