Europeans haven’t always had reliable power. They long for the good old days.

    Steve,
I’m surprised you haven’t posted anything on this one:
New Paper “Estimating Annual Numbers Of Atlantic Hurricanes Missing From The HURDAT Database (1878-1965) Using Ship Track Density” By Vecchi and Knutson 2011

    http://pielkeclimatesci.wordpress.com/2011/07/05/new-paper-estimating-annual-numbers-of-atlantic-hurricanes-missing-from-the-hurdat-database-1878-1965-using-ship-track-density-by-vecchi-and-knutson-2011/

The results indicate that a substantial upward adjustment of hurricane counts may be needed prior to 1965 to account for likely ‘‘missed’’ hurricanes due to sparse density of reporting ship traffic. After adjusting for the estimate of missed hurricanes in the basin, the long-term (1878–2008) trend in hurricane counts changes from significantly positive to no significant change

    Emmanuel/Masters hardest hit. LOL

Winter will be interesting in Germany, the government is scrambling to get a full inventory of potential power generation especially in the southern states to prevent blackouts when lack of wind is bound to take even more capacity offline (http://www.focus.de/immobilien/energiesparen/atomausstieg-verzweifelter-kampf-gegen-drohenden-black-out_aid_643386.html)

It’s a catastrophy if you live near to the plant and although the tsunami did not destroy your home you are still having to live in a shelter.

It’s also a catastrophy for the TELCO shareholders. If the BP oil spill was a catastrophy then so was this. That didn’t have too many deaths either, you can’t judge it on that though.

The EHEC outbreak in Germany due to Organic Farming sprouts killed more than 30. No widespread calls for an end to the sprout industry by now.

Italy never had nukes. They’re earthquake-prone anyway. Sweden, the Netherlands, UK, France, Finland and Poland are building new ones or plan to build.
