GISS has essentially no thermometers north of 80N, but that didn’t stop them from painting the region red in June.
DMI shows that the region north of 80N was below normal in June. GISS has it 1-4C above normal. Both data sets used a baseline of 1958-2002 for comparison.

GISS relies on their high phony Arctic anomalies to create their high phony global anomalies. Even so, they can’t get their numbers up to the zero emissions scenario C.
GISS always assumes that cold gets warmer the further north you go…………..
There’s something weird going on there. Even areas for which they have data are orange before, then red after, eg some areas of the Barents Sea. Then there’s a red square at what I’m assuming is Svalbard that turns to orange.
Their Al-Gore-Ithm is seriously screwed.
Dave, watch the Pacific NW get warmer….
…and all of Turkey and easten Europe goes from below normal to above normal
If you notice, one of the closest stations to the north pole is “a small research base on Fosheim Peninsula, Ellesmere Island, Qikiqtaaluk Region, in the Canadian territory of Nunavut. It is located on the north side of Slidre Fiord, which enters Eureka Sound farther west. It is the second-northernmost permanent research community in the world… Eureka has been described as “The Garden Spot of the Arctic” due to the flora and fauna abundant around the Eureka area, more so than anywhere else in the High Arctic.”
In other words, this is not representative of the Arctic as a whole. And it also means Hansen is a hole for extrapolating these temperatures across the Arctic.
I just discovered that if you smooth the values over 100,000,000km it’s somewhere near 5300K in the Arctic right now. That’s an anomaly of +5025.44 (It is extremely important to use the correct number of significant digits when doing Climate Science®).
🙂
So I should trust James Hansen why?

Another great blink comparator.
I suggest a text overlay on each frame commenting on the smoothing.
According to TonyD, it is other scientists fault for allowing Hansen to get away with this. If only other scientists were more diligent in exposing fraud, Hansen might do a proper job. By his logic, Hansen’s practices must be accurate and correct, or other scientists would be exposing his fraud.
Brilliant.
In the middle of that “maroon” patch in northern Russia, is a long inlet of the Kara Sea called (according to my atlas) “Obskaja guba”. In spite of all the maroon, it is still covered in sea ice (see http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/N_bm_extent_hires.png ). Odd that! Must be some really serious ice there.
Yea, its hotice, which is only caused by CO2. Or James Hansen adjustments.
