Over the last four weeks some interesting changes have been occurring in the oceans.
- It appears that another La Nina may be forming, as forecast by Klaus Wolter at NOAA. And the opposite of the forecast by James”guaranteed wrong” Hansen at NASA.
- Temperatures in the Atlantic hurricane basin are plummeting.
- Very cold water is pooling west of Europe.
- Very cold water continues to pool west of North America
- Trenberth’s missing heat remains elusive. It may have gone to another planet.
Also, notice “La Niña Benguela” (equatorial East of Africa).
The other East, i mean. West of Africa.
Thanks for that post, very interesting. Will be interested in seeing how this plays out for the ACE on this years 2011 Atlantic hurricane season.

Bill Illis had an interesting comment at WUWT, thinks El Nino may still happen:

But even if it still could form this year James Hansen is wrong. There is no strong el Nino by the middle of the year. If the El Nino forms it going to be a few months from now.
I like the nickname for James Hansen—”guaranteed wrong”
Hansen will make temporal adjustments so that December becomes July, thus making his prediction “true”.
There’s a smallish bubble of cold water forming below La Nina territory. Previous years don’t say much about which was this will progress.
