My family members and friends are still celebrating “Arkansas Earth Days” as part of the “green wet dream” utopian life with no heat,lights or electricity. Their house room temperature is 30 degreesF.

Well, I did it. I actually watched the entire video. I feel like I ought to go take a shower. My first and strongest impression was “I do not think I have ever seen a more vigorous and yet unsubstantiated endorsement of the idea of CAGW.” I really think that the couple who made the video do not understand the difference between assertion and evidence. “Jim Hansen says ‘so-and-so'” and by gosh, it MUST be true because he loves his grandchildren. They are certain that the big oil companies are fighting CAGW activists — not realizing that the big oil companies will probably make even more profit with proposed regulation than they do now. Additionally, they are certain that Hansen et al are honest scientific brokers — while completely ignoring that the so-called scientists they believe have made a VERY good living from a career promoting wide belief in CAGW. Evidence? Actual data? Not there, but a lot of “scientists” have told them to fear CAGW and they do! No mention at all of the very many scientists who disagree. No need to listen to “deniers”!
The couple who made this video suffer from a raging case of meme infection. They have swallowed the Kool-Aid. (Actually, it was Flavor Aid, but that is a nit pick.) They exhibit all the unquestioning behavior of any cultists pushing their One-True-Understanding. Are they sincere? Almost certainly! Do they have ANY deep understanding of the subject in question? Not based on what they present in their video.
I hate to admit, the David Roberts talk moved me to tears too!

This pair have been preaching on environmental issues for more than a decade now. The lady has written four books on “evolutionary ecology”. But they did not realize the immediacy of the problems. Have these folks no TV? Have they never heard of the IPCC or the Stern Review? Do they not read the reams of stuff put out by WWF, Greenpeace etc?
Fundamental change over the last week? He a fucking conman. Why aren’t these fruitloops in a museum, or advisers on the Presidents’ science team?
Sorry Steven , I just couldn’t continue to watch another recital of the idiotic musings of the Hansen and Mann crowd . Those people are parrots with no analytical thinking between the pair of them .
A couple of nice people I’m sure, who want to do the right thing. But unfortunately both naive and wrong.

From Wiki & their website, we learn that Mike practices “evolutionary theology” (theologies evolve? Who knew?), and is an “Itinerant evolutionary evangelist” who took his B.A. in philosophy and biblical studies, preaches the “Gospel of Evolution” (the oxymorons are getting thick, but stay with me just a bit longer), and has headed many green communitarian efforts, such as the “The Portland Sustainable Lifestyle Campaign” (where do I sign up? I definitely want to sustain my lifestyle).
Connie is an “evolutionary humanist and Unitarian Universalist” whose sustainable lifestyle includes majorly enlightened stuff like “evolutionary theism” and “ecological spirituality.” In her spare time she enjoys visiting “sacred sites of the epic of evolution” while having “solo visioning experiences.” Together, they “travel the continent by van as nomads” (a solar and spiritually powered van, I’m sure) preaching the Gospel of Evolution, World Peace, Environmental Justice, and Free Lunches.
This earnest pair of simpletons, and so many like them (McKibbon comes to mind) probably think they are spiritualizing science, but they’re actually romanticizing it, and worse, debasing it. I dipped in & out for a total of about 10 minutes – as much as I could take. It was only a little depressing to hear them talk about some graphs they saw in the Huffington Post – Huffington Post! – as though that made them Informed and Concerned Planetary Citizens. I must be getting jaded. As someone upstream said, they couldn’t muster a truly analytical thought between them: Philosophers seem to come in two main varieties – the few who learn and practice rigorous logic & thought (I’ve sampled some and it’s hard work!), and the great majority, who like Dowd, get by on mental cotton candy. Connie, OTOH, doesn’t list a degree but clearly favors the life sciences – Biology, Botany, etc. Biologists have been saving the world since Rachael Carson “saved” about 30 million Africans by arranging an early meeting with their Maker via the ban on DDT. It was hardly a drop in the bucket, but as the warmers and other enlightened westerners like to say, you have to start somewhere and lead by example. I’m beginning to think Luis Alvarez was right when he called Biologists pseudo-scientists. It’s not so much that they’re mostly innumerate, although I’m sure that contributes, as that these God-scoffing atheists have just substituted environmental pessimism for the traditional religions. They refuse to be rational.
Anyway, unlike McKibbon, Mike & Connie don’t seem to have much of a following; they seem pretty harmless. And I have to admit, the title of his book – Thank God For Evolution – is pretty catchy (and he got the endorsement of six Nobel laureates, for whatever that’s worth).
