Global warming could impact WA ski industry:
According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Protect Our Winters (POW), unless carbon pollution is limited, the nation’s ski industry could be impacted. Winter tourism is a $348 million annual business in Washington state, the groups say.
“Without intervention, winter temperatures are projected to warm an additional 4 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century, with subsequent decreases in snow cover area, snowfall, and shorter snow season,” the groups warn in a statement.

There are so many things wrong with this that it is difficult to know where to start
US winter temperatures have been declining for 90 years.
Winter snow is increasing
Rutgers University Climate Lab :: Global Snow Lab
And Washington is having near record snowfall.
Another 6 feet of snow in Cascades since Wed night
But worst of all is the concept that we can “intervene” in the climate. These people are completely insane.
Go ahead and scoff deniers, this man-caused war on winter can only be won by personal sacrifice. I’m going to do my part by creating a shelter for endangered snow bunnies.
If this catastrophe comes to pass it would be horrific to imagine how many 1%’ers luxury ski holidays will be bothered by this. We may need to fly to French Alps instead of jetting over to Aspen. I just can’t figure out why there aren’t protests in the streets. Let’s face it, with catastrophic global warming on our doorsteps, these are the sort of consequences we’ll all be paying for.
And the .1%’ers fly to places where no one else can go to get their Ski fix…. 😆
Just make sure they are not brain dead warmist bunnies
I intervene in the climate on a daily basis. I put a jacket on. Or I don’t.
“Without intervention,….”
Suppose someone wanted to reduce Earth’s average temperature by 10 degrees F…
What effective intervention would actually have any effect and over what timeframe ?
Nothing that I can think of other than a nuclear winter, and I’ll pass on that one.
Black is white and white is black. And the beat goes on and on and on.
NRDC!!! 😆
Natural Environment Resources Defense Council sounds better.
For years I received their hateful political bullcrap, and always made sure I sent back a thoughtful note in their prepaid envelope. NRDC finally took me off their mailing list about a year ago. 🙂
😆 Never let a good prepaid envelope go to waste.
I gather theres some NINE. 33 FEET of snow on mt Crystal in washington right now..

Is Elizabeth Burakowski an economist?
No, she isn’t. http://www.unh.edu/nressphd/profiles/burakowski.html
So why is she writing an economic paper to support her pet cause?
Everytime these alarmists raise the issue of the ski industry, it would be well to point out to them how the entire industry is a completely unnecessary waste of carbon fuel – from the heat for the lodges, to the electricity to operate the lifts and lodges, and most of all the gasoline for all the winter enthusiasts to commute to the slopes. A giant leap toward reducing CO2 pollution would be to eliminate the industry altogether.
Since the ski industry would choke at the thought of this, they should be reminded that any government limits on CO2, e.g. “the war on coal,” raising the cost of gasoline to “european levels” and direct “carbon taxes” will litererally price them out of existence since too few people will still be able to afford to get to a ski slope, let alone afford the astronomical cost of the lift ticket in this future scenario.
let’s not forget the violence they employ, actually attacking the snow with heavy artillery for avalanche abatement*.
