Is “Fossil Fuel Divestment” The Stupidest Idea Ever?

McKitten is flying around the country telling college campuses to divest from fossil fuels.

If these students had to live without fossil fuels for one hour, they would probably start a riot. The real purpose of McKitten’s work is to generate anger and hatred against the people who keep America running.

“On one hand you have the Democrats, who are genuinely stupid. They think America’s problems can all be solved from Washington, DC. At the same time, Democrats tend to be kind of nice people. But the Republicans understand mafia power is about fear. They are a bunch of mean repressive motherfuckers and always have been.” – Timothy Leary, 1982

With Leary, it is hard to tell if it was the mental disease, or the drugs that came first.

    • Glacierman says:

The Democrats run everything in Washington now. They are the establishment. The Learys of the world have become the mean repressive motherfuckers. They act like they don’t know it. As long as their simple-minded supports think they are fighting some unknown forces, their scam can continue.

Weepy Bill McFibben using Maoist tactics, because grown ups are not buying into his Grim Fairy Tales.

    • Andy Oz says:

McGibbon will be waving his Little Red Book above his head and asking students to inform on their teachers and other family members for being anti CO2 mmunist.

    water pumped to the house
    a hot shower
    cooking my food
    heating my home
    driving to work
    flying to New York
    charging my iPhone
    reading in the dark

    I thank fossil fuels.
Let the students forego all those things first,
    then decode.

Kerry has invented a new ally! Only days on the job, and already he si increasing our partners, even if they are imaginary like Obama’s job numbers.

  5. Andy DC says:

All the divestment put together will hurt fossil fuel companies less than an gnat bite would hurt an elephant.

  6. It would be fun to start a .org to publicize whatever campuses are selling, so that members could create exact “carbon offset” investments to buy up whatever campuses decide to sell. Sort of a “socially responsible for real” site. It would help you decide which leftie organizations to stop doing business with. “Big Oil” probably wouldn’t touch it, but I would guess that “Big Consumer” might.

  7. Eric Simpson says:

Well, perhaps the stupidest idea was agw itself. My jnova comment:
Funny how the two essential foundational bases of the agw theory, the hockey stick and the ipcc posited causal correlation between co2 & temperature, have been fully discredited, and so agw is a theory without foundation, yet agw stands in the MSM as if nothing has changed at all. AGW survives (and thrives unfortunately) on leftist inspired media hype, which isn’t much different from wishful thinking or superstition.
Central, and I mean CENTRAL, to the theory was the ipcc claim of a proven causal correlation between CO2 & temps. That was actually very easy to debunk (just look at a graph showing CO2 & temps!). Yet hardly anyone knows this about CO2. We need to spread the word on this, and one way to try to spread the word on CO2 is to share and promote this succinct video which quickly demonstrates the obvious fallacy (.. deception) of the now retracted ipcc position.
There’s nothing wrong with the climate (no hockey stick), and there is no evidence that CO2 has anything to do with it. Indeed, the warmists now cling to the rather tenuous position that CO2 is both an effect and a cause of warming which would very likely spawn a runaway greenhouse. In the past CO2 reached as high as 7000ppm, but there was no runaway greenhouse effect, or we wouldn’t be here!

  8. Anthony S says:

Well, fossil fuel divestment could be a good idea for endowments financially if you think that the industry is getting ready to crash due to say, advances in fusion research, and electric cars. Not a guaranty, but possibly justifiable outside of ‘we must punish anything to do with CO2’.

  9. McKitten would be more credible if he bicycled around the country lecturing people on why they should divest from fossil fuel use.

  10. adrianvance says:

CO2 is a “trace gas” in air, insignificant by definition. It absorbs 1/7th as much IR, heat energy, from sunlight as water vapor which has 80 times as many molecules capturing 560 times as much heat making 99.8% of all “global warming.” CO2 does only 0.2% of it. For this we should destroy our economy?

Carbon combustion generates 80% of our energy. Control and taxing of carbon would give the elected ruling class more power and money than anything since the Magna Carta of 1215 AD.

Google The Two Minute Conservative and when you speak ladies will swoon and iberal gentlemen will weep.

  11. gofer says:

Why doesn’t CO2 keep dry deserts warm at night?

  12. I. Lou Minotti says:

He must have recently visited Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. Rowan’s geography and environmental studies department has their ignorant, rah-rah sycophants (that were at one time in American history called students), going door-to-door in the surrounding neighborhoods trying to get residents and businesses to sign “National Coalition to Ban Fracking Organizational Commitment” forms. Nothing like using the unthinking products of public education for that which they’ve been trained!

  13. Even if full blown divestment worked what about the potential damage to the dollar? Our USD has international strength right now in the commodity market if we move away from the biggest in the world how potentially weak could the dollar become? The talking heads in Washington jumping on this divestment idea when it has potential to financially ruin us. The USD is a matter of national security and our individual financial security. LIibtards the zombie apocalypse.
