Remember when the Antarctic Peninsula was the fastest warming place on Earth, and a crack in the Larsen-B ice shelf proved that the world was doomed?
This summer, sea ice extends a few hundred extra miles in that region – green circle below.
It is probably all rotten ice.
Gaia doesn’t like coloring inside of the lines.
“Remember when the Antarctic Peninsula was the fastest warming place on Earth,”
Yea, before someone took a hard look at Steig’s methods.
But Nature used his flawed methods to show Antarctica as bright red, so it must be really hot there.
Bright red is usually considered to be about 800°C. So it is worrisome indeed that water no longer has its usual properties in the southern hemisphere anymore. More evidence that things are changing at the poles.
The real crisis people don’t want to talk about is themolysis. You know, by the time the SH reaches 3000°C, more than half the water will dissociate, which gives us an almost unlimited supply of hydrogen AND oxygen. Imagine that, cheap energy. A green’s worst nightmare, and we are evidently so close to achieving it using the free markets alone. How ironic.
Yeah and we get pissed off when our TV weather map shows bright red when they forecast normal average summer temps above 20C down here in NZ. While going on about a scorcher and a sizzler.
Meanwhile we’ve been having BS here over the last week about all the imaginary melting Antarctic ice because of AGW/CC and the claims NZ is going to be hit the worst with imaginary drowning sea level rise.
Surely it must be a lens-flare or image defect.
The model predicts doom.
All that extra ice is a sure sign of a warming planet. You know, warmth causes more ice except for the times when there is less ice.
When I need ice cubes fast, I pop them in the microwave.
Hot worm farts are warming the poles, melting the million year old ice in Antarctica, with the chilled fresh water runoff causing the surrounding ocean to be colder and less dense, thus more prone to damaging sea ice endangering penguins due to the extra distance they must walk.
Or it could be just cold down there.
Clean Air and Henry aren’t concerned about a lack of summer…
Also, no mosquitos in Vostok.
