Keystone could reduce gas prices, create tens of thousands of jobs, and send less money to middle eastern terrorists.
The horror of all that is just too much for Bill McKibben to bear.

Except Americans can’t pay for that oil except in rapidly diluting US dollars…
Good point, Will. The Fed continues to destroy the rapidly weakening dollar through inflation. We’ve managed to export many of our inflated dollars to foreign countries in the form of petrodollars. They need U.S. currency to pay for their oil.
What happens when countries abandon the weakened dollar and begin purchasing oil with other currencies or with hard metal such as gold? Then the game is up. The dollar will collapse and prices in the U.S. will skyrocket, triggering widespread civil unrest.
The financial masters who have driven us into bankruptcy are well aware of the consequences of their actions. The last thing they want to see is an armed populace rise up and put an end to their financial machinations. Which is why they are pressing their paid underlings in Congress to disarm us through ever more stringent gun control legislation.
What you’ve described is a worst case scenario but unfortunately it’s not an implausible one.
I agree that Keystone and other pipelines are perfectly sensible, however, if they come at the high cost of a devil’s bargain we should forget it until later.
The rumor is that the Democratic-Socialists will agree to it if we agree to a carbon tax (very clever). To hell with that because they will double-cross us later anyway with regulations, but more importantly, a carbon tax will become a de facto VAT and never go away. You can never win or even break even when you make a deal with the devil.
Better to just forget the whole thing, and build the pipelines later when the domestic enemy party are out of power. Maybe the people need to experience $5 gasoline and higher fuel oil for a while to get their minds right.
The problem is, the so-called opposition (R) party is beyond stupid and will take the bait, hook, line and sinker.

pretty much what Me said here.
At the bottom of that post anyway. 😆
Missed your comments there originally. Excellent as usual!
We really gotta repeat this often ( their bait and switch ) because they have a real chance of getting this VAT Carbon tax by tricking the (R)epublicrats.
No piplines if there are taxes added, period.
