If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual State. In a single State, if the persons entrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.
– Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 28
In 1787, Hamilton served as assemblyman from New York County in the New York State Legislature

Killed by the Vice POTUS… hmmmm.
Should have spent more time at the range.
Actually Burr was reputed to be the worse shot, and according to a letter Hamilton wrote the night before, he planned to miss…
“I have resolved, if our interview is conducted in the usual manner, and it pleases God to give me the opportunity, to reserve and throw away my first fire, and I have thoughts even of reserving my second fire.”
Don’t stop at 28. Read 29. Not only is it our RIGHT to keep and bear arms, it is our DUTY. We, as the militia, have a duty to be prepared to come to the aid of our family, our community, and our state.
Anti-gunners are shirkers. Proposing gun laws is an attempt to assuage their guilt.
