NCDC Sets A New Data Tampering Record In March!

March was a very cold month in the US, the coldest March since 1995. But NCDC did their best hide the decline by adjusting March temperatures upwards by a record 1.25F relative to the raw HCN data which it is based on.

Note that they adjusted March 2013 upwards 4.2 degrees relative to 1945. Also note that the published temperature trend is almost identical to the adjustments.

Perhaps I’m missing something, but your NCDC link for March shows:

    March 1946: 46.96°F
    March 2013: 40.76°F

No surprise that the 1946 paper you linked shows cherry tree blossoming on March 15.

The NCDC “Anomaly” is more important than the temperature for the month! Reporting temperatures just confuses people. 😉 😉

  2. PeterB in Indianapolis says:

I agree with Marco… your NCDC link shows March 1946 at 46.96 and March 2013 at 40.76 (-0.87 F anomaly, the coldest march since 2002). Most of your posts are accurate and point out true problems with various “adjustments”. While it is true that the NCDC data probably WERE adjusted upwards, it is still showing a full 6.2 degrees (F) colder than 1946.

Either NCDC fixed a problem with their dataset, or you were looking at 2012 data and thought you were looking at 2013… not sure which.

  3. PeterB in Indianapolis says:

I guess if they really did adjust March 2013 upwards by 1.25 degrees, the actual anomaly should have been -2.12 F instead of -0.87 F??? At any rate, still nowhere near as warm as March of 1946 regardless of adjustment.

Their behavior is extremely predictable. If the weather continues to cool, they will dig themselves in deeper an deeper. As criminals go, they are actually quite obvious and stupid.

    Now Reuters weighs in

Climate scientists struggle to explain warming slowdown
(Reuters) – Scientists are struggling to explain a slowdown in climate change that has exposed gaps in their understanding and defies a rise in global greenhouse gas emissions.

  7. Well, you know, thermometers are horribly corrupted in the presence of a few ppm CO2. All of that extra back radiation just make them so cold we have to jack the readings up to compensate.

    • miked1947 says:

All thermometers are known to be corrupted and it requires a special Psychic skill to know how much to reduce their reading in the past and how much to raise them in the present! Only a fully qualified Climate Psychintist would be able to do a “Proper” job at that! Having a degree in Chicken Little helps greatly!

Lying, cheating government funded scientists are nothing new. The Warmunists never give up.

The NCDC crew need some prison time, and the sooner the better.

    • kirkmyers says:

The scientists promoting this global warming fantasy should be prosecuted for fraud. Their criminal data tampering and junk science have resulted in untold human misery and cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.

With solar activity the weakest in more than century and the PDO in the negative mode, It appears that we may be on the cusp of another extended cool-down. Global warming is the least of our worries.

Maybe I’m an idiot Steve, but your post is very confusing and not well explained.

  11. Bring back McCarthy.

    And yes, I’m serious.

    • rw says:

No, you’re not. Read Stewart Alsop’s account of McCarthy’s maiden communists-in-the-government speech in his book, The Center. There’s also the film, Point of Order. (How many Soviet spies do you think were in the US Army at that time?)

Now if you’d said, “Bring back Nixon” or some of the other HUAC members, that would be a different story.

      • rw says:

Also, James Burnham’s brief sketch of McCarthy in Suicide of the West is worth reading. (In fact, so is the whole book.)

When you average the 48 states for March, I get 39.03. They have 40.76 (1.73 diff). Last year the average was 50.62 with 50.40 (-0.22) being the final. That is a huge difference in adjustment from last year.
