I live in South Africa where our gun control regulations are far, far tighter than anything the White House envisages. We also have the world’s highest murder rate, matched only by limited urban locations in the US. And we have by far the world’s highest incidence of rape.
Only a small percentage of gun-assisted violence in this country involves legal, licenced firearms.
For the record, I strongly oppose private gun ownership, even for sporting use, so I’m not a gun nut. I speak here only because I think that gun control in the US are a cynical misuse of recent tragic shooting incidents in order to create political capital.
That viewpoint most certainly does make you a gun nut.
