Glaciers Were Disappearing During Hansen’s Coldest Years Ever

Climate experts claim that melting glaciers are proof of global warming, because they lack the science skills most people pick up in kindergarten.

Glaciers melt during interglacial periods (i.e. last 20,000 years) because more ice melts every year than accumulates. When this reverses, we are in an ice age.

According to Hansen, the years around 1910 were the coldest on record, yet Swiss glaciers were rapidly melting.

Your graph in Stalker Update post from earlier today ( http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2014/03/22/stalker-update/ ) has the GISS 5 year running mean where 1885 and 1895 (approx) are colder than 1908. The graph above shows a different 5 year running mean.

It’s a shift to more positive North Atlantic Oscillation conditions from 1903 for around a decade.

Here are a few more reports about glaciers in the Alps.

    IS THE EARTH GETTING WARMER?
That the earth is growing temporarilly warmer is shown by the mountain gla-ciers….The latest report includes 90 glaciers in the Swiss Alps, in Norway, Greenland, the Caucasus, the Pamir, the North West United States, Western Canada. and Africa, and practically all are grow-ing smaller. In the Savoy Alps and the Pyrenees small glaciers have quite dis-appeared.

SHRINKAGE IN THE WORLD’S ICE MANTLE.
Prof. T. G. Romney has some very in-teresting things to say in “Nature” on what he calls “the shrinkage of the world’s ice mantle.”There has been a general retreat, he says, of the European glaciers since 1864….. In the French Alps, we learn, sundry small glaciers have quite melted away during the last few years…..
