Hayhoe likened climate change being described as “global warming” to the parable of the blind men and the elephant. In that story, the men touch different portions of the animal to understand what it is and come away in complete disagreement.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

If any blind ladies out there would like to fondle something, call me. Sadly, though, I don’t think it will be mistaken for an elephant.
In her version of the parable she is the all-seeing one, able to fully view the entire elephant while the rest of us ‘blind’ people grope in the dark. Hubris.
And she has first hand experience in that endeavor. The Elephants were not amused.
I still like ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf” parable when speaking of Hayhoe. It just seams more relevant ……. somehow.
Whoops — “seems” more relevant. Got to lay off the afternoon drinks … maybe not.
“We don’t expect our winters to get any less snowy for a long time,” said Katharine Hayhoe.
Well, we did, but since we were wrong, we don’t, anymore. We’re completely certain, but we’re certainly hedging our bets. Also that whole making predictions thing has really bit us in the butt so we are limiting our predictions in the near term to whatever-happened-proves-what-we-said and in the long term to predictions that can’t be disproven until after we’re all dead.
She added that there are at least ten explanations for the “pause”, excluding the claim that it doesn’t exist, so one of them is probably sort of right.
You’ve summed it up nicely. 🙂
“It is only a perception” that Chicago has had its 3rd coldest and 3rd snowiest winter on record. 142 years of records, for that matter. Or that Wisconsin had it’s coldest winter on record. What a bunch of shameless liars.
If there is one small consolation to freezing and shoveling snow it’s knowing that the warmists have to sweat and spin each sub zero day and each snow storm.
“”We’re kind of outliers in terms of what happened across the globe in January,” NOAA climate scientist Jake Crouch said.”
Yet 2 years ago, jake crouch said the US was ground zero for CAGW!!

So is cold an outlier and warm CAGW? Or is NOAA and their scientists just out and out liars?
“Only 32 winters have been colder in the last 119 years, according to Jake Crouch” – March 2014.

“We don’t expect our winters to get any less snowy for a long time,” said Katharine Hayhoe, director of the climate science center at Texas Tech University and lead author of a 2010 paper assessing the effects of climate change on Chicago and the Great Lakes.
Hmmm… really? From ‘Assessing the effects of climate change on Chicago and the Great Lakes’
Donald J. Wuebbles, Katharine Hayhoe, Julia Parzen:
“Chicago and the rest of the Great Lakes region could see substantial increases in annual and seasonal temperatures and extreme heat events…”
“The frequency and intensity of extreme cold days and cold spells are likely to decline considerably during this century. Mean wintertime temperatures are projected to rise by 2–4 °C (4–7 °F) by the end of this century. The temperature of the coldest day of the year is projected to warm by
4–8 °C (7–14 °F) through this century. The number of extremely cold days (the coldest 5% to 10% of all days in the present climate) are likely to fall by about 30% to 70% by the end of the century.”
“The number of very hot days over 32.2 °C (90 °F) is very likely to increase as well. Proportionally, an even larger percentage increase is projected in extremely hot days over 37.8 °C (100 °F). Related to this, the frequency, duration, and intensity of heat waves in Chicago are
likely to increase substantially, and the heat-wave “season”… extended.”

Obam bam was still an Illinois senator in 2008 while they wrote this paper.
I wonder why it was about Chicago and the Great Lakes and not about Alaska?
More scared voters wouldn’t be the reason, would it.
Did any reporter happen to question the apparent inconsistencies between her recent statement and her wild claims from 2010? /Rhetorical
“While Chicago froze, it was planet’s warmest January since 2007”
And this proves the planet is still warming?
My lords, ladies & gentlemen, I introduce Katherine (cop a feel) Hayhoe, The only woman not to understand the difference between the proboscis & meat & two veg. She’s trunked!
Paper bag time.
Perry
Actually, had the three blind men in that parable been proper scientists, they would have carried out due diligence by commissioning many other tests by their sighted colleagues. In that way an accurate report would be produced, probably including the elephant’s personal name.
Mann certainly needed a statistician, as S. M. proved.

Hayhoe, Hayhoe, it’s to La-La Land we go!
Perhaps Ms Hayhoe would like to step into a stall with the elephant and I can get him to lean against the wall…..
