The Great Lakes are blowing away all records for springtime ice coverage, yet NOAA is claiming that many years were colder in the Great Lakes region. Either the freezing point of water has changed, or NCDC is committing fraud.

I live in one of the Great Lakes states. I’m having a “Fire-Sale” on my 6 foot snow drifts.
I am in SE Michigan, lived here 48 years and this was one of the most brutal winters I have experienced. Felt like the late 70’s again. 3″ more inches of snow and we break the all time snowiest winter from 1880.
We need Reggie’s blowtorch to get the ice levels back to something reasonable!
If anything, the lakes freezing point should be a miniscule fraction lower in temperature since the 1930s….
Given that the salinity levels should be some small amount higher due to the tons of road salt runoff. Should a be small, but measurable increase. Wonder who would have water analysis records like that?
This reminds me of a line from an Olde Thyme song that probably 97% of today’s kids have never heard.. “The sun so hot, I froze to death, Suzanna don’t you cry!”. I’ve been in constant contact with a friend in the U.P. all winter and he’s ready to strangle every single Glow Bull Wormist who may mistakenly stumble through the snow and into his grasp, then use their lifeless corpse to burn for fireplace fuel, after this brutal winter.
