They Are Getting Nuttier By The Day

The latest trend for the AGW faithful is to refuse to believe old newspaper stories, insisting that they can only trust the sacred peer-reviewed scriptures of the prophets Mann and Hansen.

The religion is becoming complete, with sin, guilt, penance, tithes, offerings, fasting, self-deprivation, righteous anger, sacrifice, and now the sacred scriptures.

Total whack jobs.

That was from a prof at RIT.

What is interesting is President M. Richard Rose was CIA!!!

….It was in this context of disinformation and misrepresentation that the surface was peeled back layer by layer to reveal a long, complex, and pervasive relationship between RIT and the CIA. It was a connection which many in the university community charged was antithetical to the goals, methodologies and values of higher education.
Rumors of ties between RIT’s faculty, administration, and students and the CIA have long circulated but until recently have remained relatively minor or largely unsubstantiated.

A CIA memorandum dated October 16, 1975, revealed that the Agency had established “certain relationships [with RIT] which might be categorized as ‘special’ or ‘particular.'”5 Other documents showed that the College of Graphic Arts and Photography received about $200,000 from the CIA in grants from 1966 to 1975.6 In 1985 it was reported that “30 RIT … students have gone to work just for the National Security Agency and the Central Intelligence Agency.”7 Most of the students were from computer science, math, engineering and imaging science programs.

Controversy also occurred at RIT in 1987 when Robert C. “Bud” McFarlane, Rose’s longtime personal friend, was paid more than $70,000 to give three lectures as the Kern Professor of Communications at RIT. These talks occurred during the Iran-contra scandal when the former national security adviser was under investigation and attempted suicide. McFarlane continues his affiliation with RIT.

RIT had other influential friends who helped provide the kind of research and facilities the CIA needed. In 1985, when the new Imaging Science building was dedicated, the CIA deputy director attended and RIT awarded Senator Alfonse D’Amato (R-NY) an honorary degree….

Pick the correct crop for the area and climate. The Vikings grew barley in Greenland since it is the most cold tolerant grain..

We also have green houses. Around here tobacco (mid NC) is transplanted from green houses. Most people also start tomatoes from green house transplants or cold frames.

OH, Sorry I thought we were talking about the coming colder weather given we are having snow and ice pellets today my mind is on building a green house. Right now it is 31.6 °F and Light Snow.

Ten years ago in 2004 we had 93°F weather in April and temps in the 80s in March. We normally see snow once every five or so years.

Don’t forget the propane shortage due to the HUGE corn crop this year (farmers use propane to dry their harvested corn crop).

      • An Inquirer says:

Gail, maybe it is time to update this list. Today, it takes only 3/4 of acre to produce 100 bushels of corn — on poor soil.

        • Gail Combs says:

Notice they stopped the data several decades ago. Thanks for that update BTW.

        • Ernest Bush says:

Poor soil indeed. Very tasty sweet corn is grown in the desert soils of southwestern Arizona thanks to a combination of organic and petroleum-based inorganic fertilizers and soil amendments. Same thing with wheat, although most of it winds up as cattle feed which in turn produces that which is put back in the soil as organic fertilizer. The same efficiency happens with chickens. Most inorganic fertilizers and pesticides are produced by small businesses locally. More efficient watering methods have reduced the amount of water required to produce the record crops. All of these things are done because they increase profits, a bigger force for conserving resources through efficiencies than government regulations will ever be.

The combination of these things and the machinery talked about by Gail Combs above produce efficiencies that are always left out of progressive propaganda about population explosions and doomed mankind. Also, they are the reason that food prices remain low in the United States as crop production levels climb to new highs while using less land. In fact, technology and more heat tolerant hybrids allow fields to be used year round to alternate crops here, Texas, and in southern California.

  3. Andy Oz says:

This helps explain why alarmists cannot accept data and fact and only believe climate preachers.

“There’s a reason that education sucks, and it’s the same reason it will never ever ever be fixed. It’s never going to get any better, don’t look for it. Be happy with what you’ve got. Because the owners of this country don’t want that. I’m talking about the real owners now, the big, wealthy, business interests that control all things and make the big decisions. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else. But I’ll tell you what they don’t want—they don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interest.” – George Carlin

Oh. And they don’t want everyone to be armed either. That would get in the way of their praetorian guard.

…the purpose of the school was to show how education could be changed to produce little socialists and collectivists instead of little capitalists and individualists. The come back is:

“And so is every single thing you learned at school, saw on TV, heard on the radio or read in the newspaper. So, do you want to start with re-inventing fire making, the wheel, wagons, Whippletreeand harnesses for beasts of burden?”

(I had to tell some ski rescue people about the whippletree. Their supply toboggan kept flipping over without one because the pull was uneven.)

  6. ntesdorf says:

Ignoring the records of the past is a good way to ensure that you keep repeating the same mistakes of the past. The Warmistas are like the Romans under siege behind the hastily erected Walls of Rome, attacked by the Gotls. Let’s hope the fall of Warmism is assured as that of Rome.

    • What could possibly go wrong? says:

It isn’t about mistakes. It is about deliberate fraud for a specific end. Short term it is about washing money into select pockets, but mid-long term it is about monopolizing knowledge and the interpretation thereof. They try to copy their own worst propaganda about worlds religions.

But science as an ideology instead of a mere method is just another religion from inception on. It was developed from the magical science and arts and the only difference to more traditional belief systems is that they hide their god behind greek symbols. The scientific method (hypothesis, falsification and all that) is distinct from science as a belief system – and rarely used anyways.

Instead we get things like “97% convinced that…” – Indeed, who needs a falsifiable hypothesis when you can have the cozy feeling of agreement?

  7. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Its true. For some reason these people reject anything that doesn’t fit with the meme.

I offer to debate anytime and anywhere, but they just don’t want to talk about the actual data. Or the science. If it doesn’t fit their narrative it doesn’t exist. Reality doesn’t exist.

Sadly for them scientific truth has a really bad habit of hitting such people between the eyes like Thor’s hammer. As the temperature cools some more they are going to be tied in epic knots.

And ordinary people will give them the finger.

    • Gail Combs says:

This all comes from The Philosophy Of Karl Marx which is based on the Hegelian philosophy.

… Hegel accepted as real only that which existed in the mind. Objective phenomena and events were of no consequence; only the conceptions of them possessed by human minds were real. Ideas, not objects, were the stuff of which the universe was made….

In the Hegelian philosophy no idea could exist without an opposite. Thus, the idea of light could not exist unless there were an idea of darkness, nor truth without falsity, nor high without low. If an idea were labeled a thesis, its opposite would be its antithesis. Consequently, in this realm of the mind within which the universe had its only real existence, innumerable theses and antitheses existed. Struggle or conflict was the en-evitable fact in such a universe—conflict of the thesis with its antithesis. In this struggle thesis and antithesis acted and reacted on each other, and a new phenomenon—synthesis—was created. All action or change occurring in the universe was, under the Hegelian philosophy, the product of thesis, antithesis, and resulting synthesis—all in the realm of ideas, since objective reality could exist only in that sphere. Since this process was universal and never ending, it offered a complete explanation of the causal processes creating all phenomena within the universe….

The fundamental idea of change occurring as a synthesis of opposing forces Marx accepted as the germ of the universal truth that he, as a philosopher, sought…
To Marx the thing the mind perceived was realty in itself. Objective existence was exterior to the mind of man, and ideas were the reflections of those exterior phenomena.

In a nut shell “If I wish hard enough and click my heels three times its TRUE!!!”

You can also see why “Consensus” plays such a big roll in their minds. From the point of view of socialists a Consensus was reached when the USA and other countries signed the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change December of 1992. So that is the new synthesis and they are ready to move on and talk about methods of mitigation while ‘Den1ers’ are still stuck in the old argument.

Since ‘Reality’ is not what is outside the window but is what is inside the mind and what has been agreed upon, they are literally blind to scientific data and to the fraudulent manipulation of the data sets. What is all important is the ‘Consensus’

The term ‘Denying Climate Change’ also comes from that UN document and it does not mean what we think it means.

Here’s the official definition of ‘Climate Change’

“Climate change” means a change of climate which is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere and which is in addition to natural climate variability observed over comparable time periods.

That’s from the official UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (http://unfccc.int/essential_background/convention/background/items/2536.php). The term specifically excludes all natural climate change, and even excludes any caused by humans due to, for example, land clearance or city building, considering only atmospheric changes. So from that definition we ARE ‘Denying Climate Change’

With these word games, a favorite pastime of progressives, the public has been hoodwinked thoroughly. Of course that’s the idea. They can make all sorts of horrendous claims about ‘climate change’™ (assuming their definition above) and get their tame scientists to agree, when people like us assume they mean, not ‘Climate Change’™, but to a change in climate (meaning any change, whatever the cause or mechanism). So if they say, ‘climate change’™ is 1000 times more than it was 100 years ago, that may be true, but it might still be that the change in the actual climate is negligible.

Do you see how the hoax is perpetrated? Do you see why just focusing on the science doesn’t work?

    • Gail Combs says:

Since Clinton ratified the World Trade Organization and shipped US technology to China, all a minimum wage hike does is increase the number of jobs that are exported to China. Between December 2007 and October 2011 The US lost 6.5 million jobs. Most were in Manufacturing Construction and Tecnology. the low pay jobs like sales clerk and temp office, (Kelley is the biggest employer next to Walmart). 8. David says:

The prophets of AGW are no better than the Swaggerts, Haggards, Tiltons, and Bakers of evangelical Christians.

  9. There is no science in cagw and much like Darwinist theology – another non science – the little minds must create a cult, dedicated to death. Cagw cult members not only want to criminalize the ‘Unbeliever’ but like Islam, they need to kill them.

  10. Marko says:

I guess that it was the Devil who wrote those articles in old newspapers.

  11. gator69 says:

He who controls the language controls thought. For hundreds of years Rome decreed that Bibles could only be printed in Latin, which made it impossible for the common man to read it for himself. Then Tyndale came along and made the Word legible for all who could read English. Like Steven he was threatened, then strangled and burned at the stake. Heresy still carries a hefty penalty.

  12. Andy DC says:

But the climate religion is the first religion to ignore satellite data.

  13. Fred from Canuckistan says:

All this AGW stuff gives the non Religous something to believe in and humans need something to believe in. Just another New Age religion, albeit a lot more Communist/Fascist in its desire to be a Command Authority that brooks no deviation from the Greenie dogma or contrary opinions.

    • Gail Combs says:

Actually you can be non Religous and still spot hog wash and smell the pig dung.

My husband and I are not Christians but we highly resent the Christian bashing that has cropped up in the USA and we hate the Communist/Fascists/Third Way Fabians who are behind it.

Of course Hubby went to Ayn Rand’s lectures at Ford Hall Forum and has a complete collection of Dr. Petr Beckmann’s pink newsletter.

Both Ayn Rand and Dr. Beckmann had suffered Communism first hand so were able to pass on good information.

A word to the wise: Leave religion completely out of the discussions of science. As Dr Roy Spencer and Lord Monckton found out it becomes a club to bash you with and a reason to dismiss anything you say.

From my point of view it has zero to do with science and a Scientist who is a Christian is more likely to have a high level of integrity. A much needed trait in scientists these days.

      • Ragtag Media says:

In 1990, after the dismantling of his country’s communist government, Czechoslovakia’s finance minister, Václav Klaus, declared, “We want a market economy without any adjectives. Any compromises with that will only fuzzy up the problems we have. To pursue a so-called ‘third way’ is foolish. We had our experience with this in the 1960s when we looked for a socialism with a human face. It did not work, and we must be explicit that we are not aiming for a more efficient version of a system that has failed. The market is indivisible; it cannot be an instrument in the hands of central planners

      • Fred Harwood says:

If you read a recent book entitled “The West Without Water” by Lynn Ingram and Frances Malamud-Roam the hair may rise on the back of your neck if you live in the Southwest. As recent as 1861-62 California has experienced floods that covered a third of the state. Picture an inland sea stretching from El Centro to north of Sacramento existing for many months and half of San Francisco bay consisting of fresh water. That has happened numerous times in the last 10,000 years. Then there was the 1,000 year drought during the Holocene Warming Period. It seems that those of us who have been living in the Southwest for the last 125 years have been living in a reaaaalllllly mild period. During the MWP (they now want to call it the Medieval Climate Anomaly) it was on average 5 to 6 degrees warmer than now here according to proxy data. Whew!

  18. catweazle666 says:

I had one peer review worshipping Warmist crackpot assert on a blog that the old Royal Navy captains’ logs concerning Arctic ice extent were unreliable due to the navigational capabilities of the old sea captains couldn’t be relied upon because they weren’t trained scientists like Mann and Hansen.

    • Gail Combs says:

Don’t say that to my husband’s family. The Captain trained on a square rigger and was a merchant captain hauling war supplies and troops during WWII.

Those old captains had a lot more knowledge in their pinkies than Mann and Hansen have intheir wooden heads.

  19. Fred from Canuckistan says:

If Science is already “settled” then there is no reason to go on researching anything? As an engineer, teacher, I find his opinion, “Stupid” but he has the “right” in this Country to write it. Following his logic, he should be jailed or not allowed the right to speak.
