Made me laugh. 2010, my son and I were touring northern AZ and southern UT. Stopped in Hurricane, UT, for lunch. I asked a clerk, “I’ve heard the Hurricane Fault is a major fault. Where is it?” She pointed, and said, with pride, “Right outside. It runs right down the middle of the street.”
My favourite crazy urban behaviour are the loons that chose to live near an airport and then march in the streets over the noise of the planes.
Amen. My neighborhood is on final approach to a major airport. Some neighbors called the airport and asked them to reroute the planes. Duh.
Happens every year. Southerly winds in the summer keep the planes away. The north winds of winter bring the planes overhead. New neighbors are horrified.
As an AF veteran, I rather like the planes.
I went hiking in the Jura Mountains, and quite literally one hotel had the Swiss/French boundary running doen the corridor.
During the war, the German troops occupied the French half of the hotel, after occupying France, but left the hotel keeper to stay in the other half.
The village was called La Cure.

Good living until the big one hits tho, I should think. When I lived in FL 15 years ago, you could still buy a beautiful lot in the keys for 100k. Now my place is beyond the CAT4 flood zone in Lee County. Probably get rained out none the less.
Build your effing house whereever the eff you want to build it. If it gets swept away in some inevitable disaster, don’t worry, Uncle Sam will bail you out anyhow.
I think those categories cover every single city in the world. But isn’t that the point?

The town closest to me is in a pretty decent area.
