Zwally’s team calculated that the mass gain from the thickening of East Antarctica remained steady from 1992 to 2008 at 200 billion tons per year, while the ice losses from the coastal regions of West Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula increased by 65 billion tons per year.
“The good news is that Antarctica is not currently contributing to sea level rise, but is taking 0.23 millimeters per year away,” Zwally said. “But this is also bad news. If the 0.27 millimeters per year of sea level rise attributed to Antarctica in the IPCC report is not really coming from Antarctica, there must be some other contribution to sea level rise that is not accounted for.”

Utter nonsense. Scientists know exactly what is causing sea level rise. Groundwater mining.
Global groundwater depletion leads to sea level rise
Large-scale extraction of groundwater for irrigation of crops leads to a sea level rise of 0.8 mm per year, which is about one fourth of the current rate of sea level rise of 3.1 mm per year. This conclusion follows from a study by hydrologists from Utrecht University and the research institute Deltares. A paper about this study is currently in press with Geophysical Research Letters.
Almost half of the NOAA reported sea level rise is due to groundwater mining.
absolute global sea level rise is believed to be 1.7-1.8 millimeters/year.
Actual sea level rise is less than 1 mm/year. Sea level is one of the biggest criminal ventures in this scam. Even the most flagrant alarmists say their WAIS collapse theory won’t happen for at least 200 years.
Scientists declare an ‘urgent’ mission – study West Antarctica, and fast – The Washington Post
So where do scientists come up with claims like two meters of sea level rise this century? They are simply lying. There is zero scientific basis for their claims. They are criminals, not scientists.
The rate of sea level rise is decelerating, at least according to data available at the web site run by Colorado University’s Sea Level Research Group. It’s easy to verify, the rate for the first 11 years since 1992 is greater than the rate for the last 11 years. Anyone with some modest proficiency with an Excel spread sheet can verify this.
Here’s a link

to the data.
The current deceleration of sea level rise from CU’s data is -0.03 mm/yr².
Anyone who claims more than a foot of sea level rise by 2100 isn’t dealing with reality.

This explains why they do not want third worlders to have clean drinkng water.
This seems to be a harsh judgement until one recalls that in non-industrial cities, the leading user of electricity is the water utility.

Interesting. Is the message here that pumped groundwater eventually makes its way to the ocean, raising sea level?
Exactly
So it looks like a solution is to build nuclear plants and use them to run desalinization plants. Much of the human habitation is along the coastlines.
Increasing dams (for drinking water, irrigation and power) instead of tearing them down is another ‘solution’
“is to build nuclear plants ”
Or coal or gas. CO2 is good for the world. Helps plant life feed us.
A symbiotic circle. 🙂
Yes, and it also aides in the sinking of cities like Miami. If you take something out of soft ground like along the southeast coast, you better put something back in. It’s become a major engineering blunder but the media still blames it on climate change
There is also the problem of salt water intrusion if they suck out too much ground water. Also there is a lot of limestone (and some caves) in Florida.
The Florida Peninsula is a limestone plateau….
If all the ice in Greenland is to melt, then move there! It’s probably not going to melt any time soon though. But it still looks like an interesting place to visit.

In addition to reading, they may want to study a little history and see if they can add facts together
1 -Alexandria was founded around a small Ancient Egyptian town c. 331 BC by Alexander the Great.
2 – http://www.unesco.org/csi/pub/papers2/alex.pdf
Figure 1 Shows the present shoreline and Old Shore Line of Alexandria – A causeway known as the Heptastadion, was constructed to link the mainland to the island of Pharos, thus creating two remarkable harbours: Portus Magnus to the east and Eunostus to the west. Within the innermost corner of the Eastern Harbour, close to the Heptastadion, a structure known as the Kibotos was built, and functioned as a lock connecting the sea with Lake Mariout to the south. The lake was in turn connected to the River Nile by canals, thus providing a link for maritime shipping to the inland waterways of Egypt and greatly increasing the possibilities for transport and commerce.
The causeway is now filled in and there is more dry land that sea.
3 – The North African Plate is sliding under the European Plate, so if anything it should be sinking.
1 + 2 + 3 = No sea level rise.
But that is only after 2000 years.
