There was not 100% consensus in the 1970s about global cooling, not even close. A study done in 2008 of papers published in the 1970s, showed that of those that took a position on global warming or cooling, 42 predicted warming, and 7 cooling: http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/abs/10.1175/2008BAMS2370.1 And if you don’t believe that survey, watch Soylent Green. The main character, played by Charlton Heston, runs around constantly mopping himself due to the heat, and mentions “that dame global warming” to his sidekick, played by Edward G. Robinson.
Heston also said, “Take your stinkin’ paws off me, you damn dirty ape! ” Apparently there was a consensus that CO2 leads to apes ruling the Earth. Or was it that apes cause global warming?

My family and I still believe in the Easter bunny (and in Santa, too). It is still understood that if you don’t believe in them, they don’t believe in you! One daughter who has several grown children still makes Easter baskets, Christmas stockings. I like to spend the holidays at her house as does the rest of the family. We can choose our beliefs. I choose happy and chocolate which go together very well. The real world is very often just too depressing for me!

when Berkeley’s Earth’s BEST research debunked such claims back in 2013?
