The hottest months on Earth are always July and August, because most of the land surface is in the northern hemisphere. Southern hemisphere summers have little effect on global atmospheric temperature, because most of the sun’s heat goes into the ocean.

Yes, most people don’t realize that global average temperatures in February are always about 5C colder than July or August because almost all presentations of global temperature estimates are shown as anomalies (and usually relative to a cherry-picked reference period to exaggerate the highness of the anomalies). I made a similar graph based on the UM CCI CFSR data comparing monthly estimates of global temperature for 2015 versus the latest climatological reference period 1981-2010:

Good point about all that solar energy going into the southern oceans during the Southern Hemisphere summer (DJF). In fact, January is when solar energy hitting the earth is at its maximum compared to the minimum in July which is about 9% lower because of the earth’s elliptical orbit around the sun. So, much more energy goes into the southern oceans in SH summer than into the northern oceans in NH summer (also because the southern oceans cover a larger percentage of the globe).

A Trump/Cruz ticket sounds just fine to me. Along with an agreement that Cruz will have a final say withe respect to any judicial appointments. Cruz is only 45. He has plenty of time. That would be a great way to stick it to the Republican establishment and, once and for all, end their control of the party.
Giving Cruz final say on judicial appointments sounds good to me. And then maybe before their term in office ends, Cruz could himself be appointed to the Supreme Court of the US. Might not be bad at all. I could go for that.

I still don’t understand this “warmest month/year/day/minute/second” mantra. Where is it the “warmest”? And what is this “global temperature” nonsense? There is no “global temperature” – the idea is absurd. Just like there is no “global climate” – there is no such thing. You cannot measure what does not exist. This whole “global warming” or “climate change” idiocy will go down in history as the stupidest issue ever.
It’s very easy to measure global temperatures. Position a satellite at the geosynchronous distance of 30,000 miles, which is far enough away so clouded regions and clear regions blend into one, and position the satellite so that it’s over the equator and always over the central Pacific, and measure total watts received from the entire earth as if it’s a point source. All changes in temperature from weather patterns and ocean currents are averaged. Piece of cake.

Later the article states “The previous warmest February was 1998 – which was also during an El Niño event, but it never reached the level seen this year.”, which to my mind indicates that the claim was not that this is the hottest month ever, but the hottest February ever. Still doubtful, but not as outrageous as hottest month of all.
For most CAGW cultists, the word “ever” means “within the last 18 months.”
