Environmentalists Seeking Dead Birds

NBC News reports that environmentalists are excited about the prospects of more wind farms like the one pictured below at Altamont Pass, California.

A mixed vote on global warming: Ballot measures lose, but Democrats gain power

The Altamont Pass wind farm kills about one Golden Eagle every three days, and has killed more than 10% of the current Golden Eagle population in the western US.

The most recent survey of Golden Eagles  across four large Bird Conservation  Regions (BCRs) in the West (80 percent  of the species’ range in the lower 48  states is in these BCRs) provided an  estimate of 20,722 Golden Eagles of all  ages across the survey area.

Dr. Shawn Smallwood’s 2004 study, spanning four years, estimated that California’s Altamont Pass wind “farm” killed an average of 116 Golden Eagles annually (2). This adds up to 2,900 dead “goldies” since it was built 25 years ago.

Global warming insanity has completely destroyed the environmental movement, which is one of the main reasons I do this blog.

When they are doing this i hope they will concentrate them in one area.

This will chop the native bird populations there off but let all the other areas unharmed.
But i doubt it will happen that way.

It also amazes me that they do not invest massivly in Solar instead.
Considering all the chattering from all the hipocrytes im California,
be it Hollywood Stars and other prostitutes,Silicon Valley+ other corporations
who can not breath 3 times without telling everyone how “worried” they are((at least when they are close to a cam)
I wonder why they haven’t already started doing this,
as it should be no problem for all of them combined to invest 10 billions every year into solar power.

If they would only paint them green. At least they would look like a forest from a distance. Maybe a different color would make them more visible to birds. Of course it would be far better to eliminate them forever.

Holy crap, you got that right!
These massive, steel, overhead PV arrays covering every parking lot and blotting out the clear blue sky are an *esthetic disaster*! What the hell are we thinking? The actual amount of usable electricity generated is very small…. only +/- 10% of “nameplate” ratings. They get dirty and efficiency starts fading almost immediately. People are installing these just for the tax credits…

Germany is probably furthest down this road to insanity. Their CO2 emissions aren’t decreasing, their power is incredibly expensive, and they have industrialised and ruined their rural beauty. Everyone knows it has failed as a project. But they, and others, carry on regardless.

    • Johansen says:

They purposely SHUT DOWN their nukes. I couldn’t believe that when I learned it! This is Germany for god’s sake…. you know, the people who used to own Physics and Chemistry! They should be on the cutting edge of breeder reactors that use ‘waste’ as fuel.

Infra sound from windturbines is surprisingly harmful to the human body. They should stop them all immediately. Take a look at this presentation:
