Although they eat fruits, berries, seeds, and nuts, their primary food is insects. Ants alone can make up 45% of their diet. Other invertebrates eaten include flies, butterflies, moths, beetles, and snails.

    Mother Flickers!

    Beautiful birds!
My favorite woodpeckers besides Pileated woodpeckers. I love seeing Pileated Woodpeckers a little more, because whenever I see one, just for an instant, I hope I’m seeing a super rare Ivory Bill. Sadly, that hasn’t happened yet.

Well they may prefer fruits, berries, seeds, and nuts, but in my experience, they also like stucco. I catch them pecking at my house occasionally.

Have an exterminator check your house. Our neighbors had the same problem but later discovered they had a termite infestation. The Flickers were pecking at the stucco to get the termites.

I’ve been counting “Courting Flickers” since last Tuesday.
    Hi Tony
    Are you OK?

  5. Stewart Pid says:

Tony quiet for almost 10 days … very strange and hopefully it isn’t a health issue.
