The stupid is strong with that one

    Thank God he lost too

    • arn says:

The stupid is stronger in those who parrot the BS of Gore&Kerry
      and call themselves scientists.

But when hundreds of millions of years have proven that 400 and even magnitudes more ppm can not cause a runaway greenhouse effect
then one of two groups(reality&nature vs politicians&scientists) must be completely wrong and appear as a bunch of liars and idiots.

  2. rah says:

Lurch was a Brainiac compared to Kerry.

  3. Gator says:

“It sounds like you are questioning the credentials of the president’s advisers,” the liberty-minded congressman told Kerry during the hearing. “But I don’t think we should question your credentials today. Is it not true that you have a science degree from Yale?” Kerry responded that it was a bachelors’ of arts degree. And Massie followed up with another question: “How do you get a bachelors’ of arts in science?” Kerry then mumbled about it being a liberal-arts degree.

“OK, so it is not really science,” Massie concluded. “I think it’s somewhat inappropriate that somebody with a pseudo-science degree is here pushing pseudo-science in front of our committee today.”

    • GW Smith says:

      But he served in Vietnam!

      • David Lees says:

Kerry did an excellent job of fighting for justice at the end of the Vietnam war. But that doesn’t give him credence for this role, where he’s completely barking up the wrong tree.

    • Phil. says:

Massie seems to think that the way MIT names its degrees is the only way. Doesn’t realize that many universities award BA (or AB) degrees in subjects such as Chemistry or Physics.

      • Gator says:

        Seriously? LOL

You are going to defend Kerry? LOL

What a stooge! Are you really that stupid Phail? Too dumb to recognize a well placed jab? Go back to your rock.

  4. Tom Konerman says:

    John Kerry explains the greenhouse effect;

    • R Shearer says:

Sounds more like the blanket effect the way he described it. Anyway, he’d the only person that I’ve heard declare that there is an optimum temperature (57F apparently).

  5. John of Cloverdale, WA, Australia says:

Definitely knows nothing on science. He believes CO2 rises to the top of the atmosphere and forms a half-inch thickening ‘blanket’ to trap the heat. Couldn’t be as thick as him.
“Try and picture a very thin layer of gases – a quarter-inch, half an inch, somewhere in that vicinity – that’s how thick it is. It’s in our atmosphere. It’s way up there at the edge of the atmosphere. And for millions of years – literally millions of years – we know that layer has acted like a thermal blanket for the planet – trapping the sun’s heat and warming the surface of the Earth to the ideal, life-sustaining temperature. Average temperature of the Earth has been about 57 degrees Fahrenheit, which keeps life going. Life itself on Earth exists because of the so-called greenhouse effect. But in modern times, as human beings have emitted gases into the air that come from all the things we do, that blanket has grown thicker and it traps more and more heat beneath it, raising the temperature of the planet. It’s called the greenhouse effect because it works exactly like a greenhouse in which you grow a lot of the fruit that you eat here.
This is what’s causing climate change.”

    • Johansen says:

Right…. CO2 is well-mixed throughout the atmosphere. Water vapor, however, is not. That’s why warming was supposed to occur at the poles, first, because the dry air there ‘exposed’ more CO2, supposedly ramping up its effect as a greenhouse gas. Since we don’t see the poles melting appreciably, it’s a problem (for the other side).

Also, the atmosphere is essentially ‘opaque’ to longwave radiation in the CO2-window, anyway, so going to 700 ppm (or whatever) shouldn’t cause more warming.

    • Gator says:

I prefer to call it the “Outhouse Effect”. It’s FOS, has to be repositioned regularly, is obsolete, and it stinks.

    • rah says:

His wife says he goes to sleep and then wakes up with the answers.

    • Petit_Barde says:

“trapping the sun’s heat and warming the surface” … this guy is really dumb as a rock.

It looks like Kerry was off by about a century…

Wintertime Arctic Sea Ice Growth Slows Long-term Decline: NASA

It seems counterintuitive: how does a weakening ice cover manage to grow at a faster rate during the winter than it did when the Arctic was colder and the ice was thicker and stronger?

This increase in growth rate might last for DECADES, a new study accepted for publication in Geophysical Research Letters found.

“Increasing ice growth is unlikely to be sufficient in preventing an ice-free Arctic this CENTURY,” Petty and his colleagues concluded.

    • Johansen says:

Somebody runs a model with probably hundreds of input variables, and makes predictions a century out which are confidently, unhesitatingly, reported with a precision down to the “inch”. The study is accompanied with a suitable “ice is melting” photo with no location given. Perfect for a PBS Special… but that’s about it

  7. Psalmon says:

Canada could not supply towns along the Northwest Passage late last Summer because of too much sea ice. They were planning to fly in fuel.

Because the Arctic is the hottest in 10 millennia…

Which is why Putin is expanding Russia’s icebreaker fleet:

Climate Change is a mental disorder that is not treatable.

  8. Johansen says:

Hmmm…. Senator Kerry from Massachusetts **opposed** the big offshore wind farm that was supposed to be built near Cape Cod. (the Kennedy’s opposed it as well). It was going to be the first, true “offshore” installation in the U.S…. He finally gave it luke-warm support, but only after pressed by Obama.

In case you’re new to the forum, Sen. Kerry served in Vietnam for a few months on a patrol boat – just long enough to take a few ‘combat pictures’ with an M16 slung over his shoulders. I guess he killed a couple 14-y/o Viet Cong by shooting them in the back. Then he betrayed his comrades on national T.V. in front of the U.S. Congress, winning the acclaim of the Jane Fonda crowd, and launching his political career. Then, at some point, he married a rich heiress and henceforth his Senate career was properly financed.

    • Johansen says:

Oh yeah, he also alerted the press and then threw his ‘medals’ over the White House fence in a righteous display of disgust. But, we found out they weren’t his “real” medals; no, they were just fake medals. He kept his real ones.

      • Johansen says:

I almost forgot…. then he went to Iran, made sure the world knew he spoke the French language, and negotiated the crappiest deal in American history – guaranteed to turn the Middle East into an inferno – and arranged for $billions in laundered money to be airlifted at night to the jokers who make up the I. government. Afterwards, he came home and lied about the details to Congress and the public

    • John F. Hultquist says:

He was already rich. See: “Forbes” — his middle name.
That’s why he seems to be from a parallel universe.

  9. RonnyLee says:

On this day in Paris, France, Climate Change caused the Norte Dame Cathedral to spontaneously combust. This is karma for Trump withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord. This is all Trump’s fault!

  10. John F. Hultquist says:

    This is all Trump’s fault!

Yes, meaning the snow last night in the Cascade Mtns. of Washington State.
He should just stay in Mar-a-Lago and these things would not happen.
