New York : State Of Superstition

Ocasio-Cortez says the world will end in 12 years. She is absolutely right. – The Washington Post

New York’s Governor says New York didn’t used to get hurricanes or tornadoes.

“Anyone who questions extreme weather and climate change is just delusional at this point,” Mr. Cuomo told MSNBC in an interview. “We have seen in the state of New York what everyone has seen—we see these weather patterns that we never had before. We didn’t have hurricanes. We didn’t have super storms. We didn’t have tornadoes.”

The level of ignorance on display by the governor is spectacular, even for a New York Democrat.

Too bad the governor doesn’t have access to the New York Times.

Experts Unearth a Stormy Past By Andrew C. Revkin

July 24, 2001

Studies reported by federal meteorologists last week showed a relationship between the frequency and targets of severe Atlantic hurricanes and the shifts that occur every few decades in the temperature of the ocean’s waters.

They concluded that the Atlantic had recently settled into its warmer state. As a result, they say, strong hurricanes will be more than twice as likely to form in the next 20 or 30 years as they were between 1970 and 1994.

n March, the atmospheric agency and the National Science Foundation sponsored a three-day workshop at the University of South Carolina to explore the idea of creating the first systematic effort to seek evidence of Atlantic Coast hurricane strikes that have not been well documented, from 1851 back 1,000 years or more.

For places like New York City, which has been struck head-on by a Category 3 or higher hurricane only once in recorded history, in September 1821, finding evidence of others is important for planners, Dr. Donnelly and other experts said.

The world passed a climate treaty that day in 2001, which had zero impact on emissions or climate.

The Kyoto accord calls for the 38 industrialized countries by 2012 to reduce their combined annual gas emissions to 5.2 percent below levels measured in 1990.

We are coming up on the 200th anniversary of New York’s most powerful hurricane, which would have destroyed Lower Manhattan – except that it came in at low tide.

1821 hurricane trumps Sandy, would have cost $100B

The governor also seems to lack access to the New York City government.

New York has also had plenty of tornadoes, like this one which hit in 1923, right after a deadly heatwave.

The climate of New York isn’t getting worse, but the voters there certainly are. The press is doing everything they can to make voters as ignorant and superstitious as possible.

1976. Hurricane Belle. Was 12 years old living in the Catskill Mountains (upstate New York). My brothers and I were playing the game of standing on a hill and leaping into the air, opening our rain coats like bat wings and seeing how far the wind would carry us before touchdown! (I doubt most parents would allow that today…).

  2. Terry Shipman says:

I realize this is an old one but it is the first thought that came to my mind:

How can you tell when a Democrat is lying? If the lips are moving. I see this proved every day.

  3. G W Smith says:

The left is preying upon the ignorant and the young, as usual. Only genocide is quicker.

    • Robertv says:

That’s why they took over the education system. To create the ignorant slave when they are young. The Me Too (Big (Brother) Government) jugend.

      • arn says:

“The society of EXPERTS will controle propaganda and education.
It will teach loyalty to the WORLD GOVERNMENT,
        and make nationalism HIGH TREASON.
The government, being an OLIGARCHIE,will instill submissivness into the great bulk of the population…
It is possible that it invent ingenious ways of concealing its own power, leaving the FORMS of democracy intact,
and allowing the PLUTOCRATs and POLITICIANS to imagine that they are cleverly controlling these forms…
whatever these outward FORMS may be,
ALL real power will come to be concentrated in the hands of those who understand the ART of SCIENTIFIC MANIPULATION!!!”

“Climate Policy is not about controlling climate…
        it is about controlling your”
        Piers Corbyn

      • D. Boss says:

Yeah, those old enough to remember…. The Soviets stated clearly in 50’s and 60’s – that “we will not win a shooting war”, “what we will do is infiltrate your schools and indoctrinate the next few generations to become socialist then communist”.

Well folks, they were true to their word… And us dumbasses let it happen!

Make Tenure illegal; do a Reagan move (like the air traffic controller issue) on all professors – fire them all, and then in the re-hiring – all schools must have at least 45% conservative profs, administrators, and staff.

Garnish 90% of all revenue from College Sports, to pay down student debt. Let graduates sue the schools for worthless degrees.

        Etc, etc.

Some of these schools have $50 billion war chests and growing. Where are the lefties who want to tax free market folks to death when it comes to these institutions? Oh, I see – if you are a committed socialist or communist as schools have become, you are exempt from the state’s money grab scam….

“The left is preying upon the ignorant and the young …”

No, the left is waging a heroic fight for transgender climate change progress.

  4. Gamecock says:

    Pikers.

We have 18 hours to save the planet . . . for the children. (Though I expect we will be given another 24 hours tomorrow.)

One-upmanship is critical in politics. Treason May declared Net Zero by 2050. Labour has now declared New Zero by 2030. There will never be an end of preposterous declarations by politicians. And 16 year old climate experts.

  5. Tom Miran says:

Important for the nimrods to note that hurricane Sandy wasn’t a hurricane when it hit New York. It was a tropical storm that unfortunately hit at high tide during a full moon .
So called climate change had nothing to do with it.

  6. Tom Moran says:

    https://www.space.com/18260-hurricane-sandy-full-moon-frankenstorm-surge.html

Sandy also merged with a cold front so it was never a matter of climate change was just a matter of poor timing and weather bad luck.

    • Disillusioned says:

We have ~150 years of records and news accounts of poor timing and weather bad luck, with many accounts much worse than what has been experienced on this planet since 1979 (the official beginning of climate news for the climate change apologists). The globalist Church of United Nations frowns on any mention of severe weather occurrences before 1979.

  7. John F. Hultquist says:

A great collection of things every high school graduate of the Northeast should know. Stories from other cities could be added for the local population – – Boston, New Haven, Newport, and so on. If historians from such places used your template, future leaders would not be so ignorant.

The level of ignorance on display by the governor is spectacular, …

Cuomo is 63 while carrying the knowledge of a slow 6th grader.
Mario Cuomo and Eliot Spitzer come to mind.
Jay Inslee, of Washington. Jerry Brown, of California.
    All went to law school.
    I see a trend, and a problem.

  8. Eric Simpson says:

There’s no evidence at all that global warming would cause an increase in hurricanes. There isn’t much they got as far as even a mechanism for it. Indeed, as MIT’s Richard Lindzen puts it: “If the models are correct, global warming reduces the temp. diff. btw poles & the equator. When you have less difference in temperature, you have less excitation of extratropical storms, not more.https://twitter.com/tan123/status/1050463554929913856

Over a century the trend is:
    hurricanes down
    fires down
    tornadoes down.

But whenever there’s a fire or weather event of any sort the leftist Chicken Littles all chime in “CLIMATE CHANGE! CLIMATE CHANGE!” What utter bs.

  9. What about the 97% of all scientists with actual degrees that signed the Petition Project? That was the 31000+ signatures drive that convinced the Senate that the Kyoto hustle was pseudoscience–a trap. A lot of work went into that effort on campuses all across These States and Dominions. Now the looters with 13 scientist impersonators want us to give up electricity because Sharknados!

  10. Robert Gipson says:

Well, they better take down this Wikipedia page, pronto:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_New_York_hurricanes

I was living on Long Island in 1960 and 1961 when, respectively, hurricanes Donna and Esther tracked across the island. Back-to-back severe hurricanes in two years. Esther created a huge water spout that tracked inland for a goodly distance. Esther came out of a clear blue sky; I recall it well. Perhaps I’ll be sent to a re-education camp.

  11. Joshua Peterson says:

Sadly, Governor Cuomo also seems to lack access to records and publications from the State University of New York. They have a nice write-up online about the Great Hurricane of 1938, which swept Long Island and formed the Shinnecock Inlet, and widened Moriches Inlet, sites my grandfather thereafter frequented for fishing: https://www.sunysuffolk.edu/explore-academics/faculty-and-staff/faculty-websites/scott-mandia/38hurricane/geological_impact.html

  12. Disillusioned says:

Oliver Wendell Holmes would not likely be very happy with Matt McGrath and Joe Romm. Falsely inducing panic does not seem to be a protected form of free speech.

  13. Vegieman says:

No need to post my comment, just an inquiry to address Maine’s week of discussing climate change effects on their state.
