Americans believe that almost ten percent of the population have died from COVID-19.

In terms of median stupidity, it looks as though the UK is neck and neck with the US.
There are four possible conclusions from this table: the MSM, public health, and political fear mongering propaganda is working; a large part of the population doesn’t understand percentage; there is a complete absence of critical thinking; or this was a poorly worded question in the survey. I’d select all of the above. In the cited survey, the responses to the mask questions reflect the national propaganda e.g. Sweden low numbers, others higher.
At 33 million there would be bodies everywhere you looked.
I found out the other day that two thirty-somethings in my circle of acquaintance suspect they have had Covid, having been infected in Laos in January.
Whatever the virus was it seems to have damaged the heart of one of them.
Very possible. SARS-Cov-2 is an epithelial disease that promotes the clotting of red blood cells – clumping is perhaps a better term. This is leading to severe strokes and even limb-loss in younger people due to the formation of enormous blood clots. It is unfortunate that the outbreak has been characterized as a lung disease – hence the widespread mistreatment. The lung condition is a result of the body over-reacting and ultimately killing itself, as in 1918.

Kinda misleading. “Confirmed cases” understates “actual cases”. There is no reliable data that describes the true relationship between “confirmed” and “actual” SARS-CoV-2 infections.
That said, the media blitz tends to make people perceive that actual cases are more prevalent than they actually are. The truth? Probably somewhere between “perceived” (as noted by this survey), and “confirmed” (as published by the authorities).
This just blows me over!
In terms of “years of formal education” the USA is now the best educated society in human history – and this is the result. I am in shock.

I wonder if medium – rather than “mean”/average would have been the better figure here. Wouldn’t medium have provided a better sense of the scale and range of the delusion? On average, Americans think 9% of the population has died. But some portion are getting it correct – must be something like .00n% – question is, how many are getting it correct vs how many are guessing upwards of 20% dead … wouldn’t medium give you a better sense of that? If a relatively small percent are grossly deluded, medium would be substantially lower than 9%.
Am I recalling Statistics 201 correctly?
Even on WUWT you have people posting that it has a 15% death rate in the UK.
Astounding!
I wasn’t able to find a link but there was a mention on the news of a UK study on the virus transmission on trains, the result was that (without masks whatever difference that makes either way) the risk was 1/11,000 journeys. Rail staff have a lower incidence of the virus than the average for the population. A similar German study found the risk was even less, and they failed to find single example in their test and trace system where someone had been infected on a train.
Found a mention of the train studies (models – uh oh!).

The mass media have been absolutely disgraceful in their hyping up the fear. Journalists seem to have a problem with numbers. Top hysteric – Piers Morgan having a fit of the vapours about people going to the seaside or walking in the open country.
Operation Alice in Wonderland.
Deep state psy-op.
How deeop down the rabbit hole do ya wanna go…
How stupid do you have to be to believe that? The sad thing about true stupidity is you can do absolutley nothing about it. It’s all part of the ongoing con-job and lies of omission. The great unwashed are allowed to believe “cases”means death, not simply “Oh you’ve been infected with Wuhan Virus Flu at some time” and it’s in the interests of politicians, public servants and pharma to not disabuse them of that idea.
“How many people in your country have died from coronavirus?”
“Respondents across all countries were asked to enter a % for each category. The mean percentage is shown for each.” https://www.kekstcnc.com/media/2793/kekstcnc_research_covid-19_opinion_tracker_wave-4.pdf
How poorly written. They ask for discrete number of people and then give proportion or percentage as only type of answer. While it is normal to overestimate very low probability events, 9% is way over top. I think some respondents may have misinterpreted the question to mean percent died who got the virus in err, e.g. some variant of “What percent of people [who have caught] have died from the coronavirus in your country?” It is not too hard an error to make to look at percent of those catching coronavirus who have died verus percent of population. Poorly written question.
The report also gives almost no data on methodology for sampling, say phone, internet, person on street, or demographics to adjust survey to population likely not done, or who paid for the survey.
Very similar to the answers one gets when quizzing the public over climate change.
For hair-raising reading p 10 https://apps.who.int/gpmb/assets/annual_report/GPMB_annualreport_2019.pdf
And see who’s on this international 15-member board
Governor Charlie Baker has just halved the size of allowed gatherings, and given the cops the authority to go after miscreants. Just… plain..nuts..
The thing about this survey is that it is an opinion survey. The more frightened the population the more likely they are to give frightened answers. The methodology, while being in pretty colours, is not at all defined and the target groups are not defined as to demographics. One thousand respondents out of say 360 miliion in the USA is statistically irrelevant.
A perfect demonstration of what decades of liberal education can do. Zillions (with a Z!) of morons with zero critical thinking capacity.
Decoy HCQ study backfires. HCQ unmasks stealthy cancer cells to viral attack.

The media and the politicians are looking to virologists and epidemiologists for their information.
There does not seem to be any input from those who know about the human immune system.(apart from those expecting to make money from vaccines).

When people post that it is a huge exaggerated number, they are taken down on Facebook, Twitter, etc., right?
