Erasing The Cooling

In the December 15, 1977 issue of Nature, it was reported that atmospheric temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere had cooled about 1C.

“An international team of specialists has concluded from eight indexes of climate that there is no end in sight to the cooling trend of the last 30 years, at least in the Northern Hemisphere.”

Almost all of this cooling was erased in Michael Mann’s hockey stick, but is present in Briffa’s reconstruction.

Tony, you made the point so well I cannot make a worthwhile follow up comment;-)

Seems Briffa is the Man as he does not need to rewrite history to make a point,
while Mann carries his name for Orwellian reasons.

And whatever happened to those Specialists?

Was there even a single one of them to come out since the 80ies to ever make a statement, that the warming trend since the 80ies was no warming trend at all,
but just a typical ( and may be even cyclical ) correction back towards the ‘normal’ global temperatures before the cooling trend ?

I consider YOU to be amongst the top true climate scientists in the world. \nosarc and sorry if the term climate scientist is a derogatory. I mean it in the truest sense of respect.
Mark Steyn is about to go to trial against Michael Mann.
Will you be able to help Steyn out?
“Unlike the defamation trials of Rudy Giuliani, Alex Jones, and Ammon Bundy, it appears that the Mann v. Steyn trial will offer something of an actual examination of the merits. Some of the biggest names in climate science (and skepticism) are listed as potential witnesses, including Mann himself, Raymond Bradley, Naomi Oreskes, Roger Pielke, jr., Judith Curry John Christy, Steve McIntyre, and Ross McKitrick. The judge, Alfred Irving, appears fair enough.”
