Nordic countries hit by ‘truly unprecedented’ heatwave
Scientists record longest streak of temperatures higher than 30C in region in records going back to 1961″

Nordic countries hit by ‘truly unprecedented’ heatwave | Climate crisis | The Guardian

In 1927, a group of women tried to drive to the Arctic Ocean. Hot weather, melting permafrost and forest fires forced them to abandon their expedition.

the motor party journeyed to 270 miles north of the Arctic Circle, prepared for freezing weather. To their continued astonishment the temperature was never’ less than 90 degrees in the shade

The intention was to reach the Arctic Ocean, but 40 miles of marsh country on the coast prevented this. An average of 210 miles a day was made on the journey, which was arduous in the extreme, and at one time the car had an actual race with death among the forest fires in Sweden over terrible roads

  1. How incompetent! They forgot to start the record at 1980! they are not even skilled at cherry picking. Would you buy a used hockey stick from these jokers?

  2. Mike says:

And they ignore the 40’s where temps were +- 115°F in the shade.

  3. Disillusioned says:

If not for constantly being told what the ‘feels like’ temperatures are, I wouldn’t know how truly unprecedented these summer heatwaves are.

  4. conrad ziefle says:

Why did they stop at 1961? Is it a zodiac number or something? If they stopped at 1961, then there must have been a “precedented” event about that time, which they wished to not recognize.

too funny. the temperature records dont even go back as far as the year I was born, 1959. here’s an interesting story about the Canadian forest fires, which are bringing a lot of smoke to the upper Midwest this summer. at least 30 of them have been started by arson, no doubt mostly for political reasons. Michael Savage was right when he said liberalism is a mental illness. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2025/08/canada-ruined-our-summer.php

I just did a little homework on google.com. I asked Google when was the mercury thermometer invented. answer came back …1714. apparently the Nordic countries did not hear learn about the discovery of the mercury thermometer until 1961. if my math is correct that’s more than 250 years… late at the switch. or could there be another reason that 250 years of measurements seem to be missing. lol

Nordic countries are quiet organized and progressive.
Most likely they have data for 100+ years.

    • Francis Barnett says:

Mercury freezes at -38.87 °C which is probably why they didn’t bother using mercury thermometers in Nordic countries, preferring alcohol types.

Just when you think you’ve mastered scepticism, along comes another little fraud to persuade you otherwise.

My niece who lives in Armidale, NSW, ground zero for this ‘climate change is what done it’ mid-winter snowfall up on the Tablelands of Australia’s Great Dividing Range, sent me photos of her 2 girls out on their front lawn building snowmen and having a (freezing) great time.

When I visited them last Christmas (summer) it was hot, sunny, dry, lovely – spent most of the time in the swimming pool. Now it’s winter, and with an altitude of 3,500ft, snowflakes are not unheard of, yet this storm was a beauty, dropping almost 1 foot of (impossible) snow on the ground.

For the 25th year in a row, Prof David Viner’s prophecy has been turned on its head as children know EXACTLY what snow is and they obviously quite enjoyed it.

      • arn says:

IIRC Viners end of snow predictions were for the western regions with way cooler climate,
therefor snowfalls in hot places like Australia should be absolutels impossible by now according to his expertism.

Yet even the children of his children still know what snow is – even in the hottest regions.
