Hansen is constantly warming the present and cooling the past. The graph below shows changes to GISS reported temperatures since July 15, 2011.

Hansen of course overwrites in situ or deletes his old data, but I have been saving the files to track his cheating.
GISS is also diverging from satellite data at a rate of almost 1C per century. Hansen has to keep the global warming scare alive – the planet depends on it.

It’s just as well that someone is keeping a record of the old data.
However, it isn’t only GISS which is diverting from RSS.
UAH satellite anomalies have also been rising relative to RSS since about the year 2000, after generally falling relative to RSS prior to that.
GISS minus UAH shows a lower positive trend.

Thanks, but the increase in the UAH minus RSS figure since 2000, which I mention above, is based on the interim UAH version 5.5 dataset, which has had AQUA AMSU removed, and which therefore shouldn’t be influenced by the spurious warming in AQUA AMSU channel 5, referred to in your link.

V6.0 has not been released, so it is a bit premature in assuming 5.5 is correct. In the past, RSS was used assumed by Warmists to be a superior data product because it was warmer than UAH. Funny how that works isn’t it?
Bottom line: Hansen is manipulating data without any revision notes, explanations and archiving. That would be subject to legal repercussions if done in the industrial sector, up to and including jail time depending on the industry. It is very odd that NASA would allow such behavior at GISS since data there is being used for influencing policy considerations. The same for NOAA.
Oh, I am not assuming that any figures are correct. With all of the contradictions, I have no idea whether if or any of the figures are correct. All I was saying was that according to Roy Spencer, the V5.5 figures have had the spurious warming from AQUA CH5 removed.
Warmists will use which ever figures suit them.

Quite a while ago, Spencer and Christy threw the team a bone, and made an adjustment to bring UAH more in line with RSS.
Perhaps in the meantime RSS has silently corrected their issue, and now UAH is left flapping in the wind.
I think its time to unthrow the bone.
Sats drift. That’s what they do. Some more or less than others depending on how much fuel they carry to stabilize their orbits. When an orbit begins to degrade the data has to be recalibrated again.
Hansen is not wrong. He is a climatologist. As such he knows the ultimate reality revealed by the climate models. These data adjustments are merely correcting the false perceptions given by the thermometers. Climatologists have still an imperfect perception of that ultimate reality, which is why corrections are in such incremental steps. Do you not feel the heat, the see the worsening hurriances, floods and droughts at the same time? Do you the see the rising sea levels drowning the wilting crops under the scorching sun before they are flattended by the mighty gales?. Do you not perceive the coming cataclysm?

It is also significant that GISS have massively reduced the 1998 temperature in comparison. Their original data showed that year as much hotter.
The suspicion must be that this was done to make subsequent years appear hotter.

That is due to the fact that El Ninos and La Ninas get amplified in the mid-troposphere. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
The UKMO/CRU have also done the same by introducing HadCRUT4.
