This drought may never break
IT MAY be time to stop describing south-eastern Australia as gripped by drought and instead accept the extreme dry as permanent, one of the nation’s most senior weather experts warned yesterday.
“Perhaps we should call it our new climate,” said the Bureau of Meteorology’s head of climate analysis, David Jones.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Perhaps davy jones should be stuffed in a locker and tossed into the sea.
Snowfall is now just a thing of the past in parts of tropical Australia. 🙂

Frozen kangaroo anyone?

It’s just not going according to plan. But wait…………………they will soon blame it on global warming. 🙂
After 3 very wet years with Jan – June 2012 the wettest since 1974 and snow in mid October for only the 4 th time since 1880 I am sure glad we still have global warming otherwise we will freeze and drown.
For the snowfalls we are talking 28 degrees 39 minutes south at an elevation of 805 metres !!!
To give Americans some comparison – Orlando Florida !!! is about 28 degrees 30 minutes North.
Imagine snow at 805 metres elevation at a latitude equivalent to Orlando Fl in the middle of Spring – say mid April – and you see how significant this event is.
It is even more remarkable, because Australia does not have a huge, continuous landmass toward the pole like Orlando does.
The place I’m listing is Stanthorpe in Queensland – not the video link above. The video is much further south.
It appears the Australia long range climate change forecast should be a change to record cold and wet. Fortunately, the extreme AGW paradigm team can claim any change (including record cold, wet, and so on) to be due to global warming.

Canberra experienced its coldest October day in more than 40 years.
Parts of the south coast experienced rainfall of well over 200mm of rain in less than 24 hours, large swells caused the cancellation of ferry services in Sydney, and the Great Western Highway was closed at Wentworth Falls due to heavy snow and black ice.
For the Hunter, a southerly change during the afternoon is expected to bring a drop in temperature, some heavy rain and high winds.
The region is expecting only a fraction of the 225mm that fell on the south coast town of Ulladulla overnight
Wait for breaking new paper demonstrating snowfalls are part of a drought, because they ain’t technically “rain”.
