Windfarms are the most environmentally destructive form of energy.
Lights left on during a foggy night last year at a West Virginia wind farm are thought to be behind the grizzly deaths of nearly 500 songbirds.
It was the third time it happened — and each time, the federal government looked the other way.
Fast forward to last week. Following the deaths of a dozen migratory birds in Montana, Wyoming and Nebraska several years back, a Denver-based oil company was fined $22,500. The company was also ordered to make an additional $7,500 payment to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
The disconnect demonstrates what critics call a blatant double standard that has to change. While the federal government aggressively pursues oil and gas companies for wildlife deaths, it often gives wind producers a pass.
Proponents say going soft on the wind industry allows it to compete. But environmentalists say, in this instance, it’s unacceptable.
“The playing field is not leveled,” American Bird Conservancy spokesman Bill Johns told FoxNews.com, recalling the West Virginia incident. “If there had been a serious consequence the first time, there wouldn’t have been a second time and a third time. All they do now is go, ‘Whoops, my bad’ and it’s forgiven.”
Feds look other way as wind farms kill birds — but haul oil and gas firms to court | Fox News

I just love the double standard. I kill an eagles, I visit the Crowbar Hilton and get fined. These energy farms kill eagles and they get a free ride, shocking, just shocking.
eagles–eagle
“These energy farms kill eagles and they get a free ride…”
Worse. They get subsidized, and we get screwed.
The world is full of double standards as soon as politicians or governments are involved.
It’s amazing how far society has allowed this wind farm scam to proceed. If there’s anything that is a bigger demonstrable failure than the wind farm as an efficient source of grid electricity I’ve never seen it. Yet it continues to rumble on by exploiting the gullibilty of the soccer mom class.
If the election result were different, we would be exploiting real energy rather than Mickey Mousing around with bird killing feel-good nonsense. Unfortunately for us, we will have to put up with this BS for another 4 years. Probably by then, it will be so cold that the alarmists will be run out of town on a rail.
Doesn’t mater how cold it gets.
Ideologues will still be pointing to their phonied up charts , but with mittens.
Only we will notice.
Would it be possible for the oil firm to challenge the fines in court on the grounds of unequal enforcement?

Oh boy, what a marvelous collection of hand-waving & fairy stories.
Even feminists are making fun of weepy Bill McKitten now. I hope MFGW or someone, anyone actually puts this to music on a video, it would be a wonderful Christmas tribute to Bill. lol
While McKibben Loudly Weeps
(to the tune of the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” – lyrics, mp3)
I look at the world and I see it’s improving
While McKibben loudly weeps
From poverty, millions are steadily moving
Still McKibben loudly weeps
I don’t know why he’s so depressing
Christmas he’s messing up
I don’t know what he finds distressing
Progress is blessing us
With each kilowatt, there are lifespans increasing
While McKibben loudly weeps
Diseases and storms have a trend that’s decreasing
Still McKibben loudly weeps
I don’t know what he finds alarming
In all this charming news
I don’t know who he thinks it’s harming
In his sad warming views
With each passing year, his predictions are failing
So McKibben loudly weeps
So forlorn is he now…
Still McKibben loudly weeps
I ran into our old buddy Tony D, who faces a juggling act when trying do his work and staying involved in the climate debate, on a blog where everyone suffers climate OCD. He was complaining that Steve has banished (Tony’s claim not mine) him from Real Science and that he is very frustrated that he is unable to Earth shaking news that would completely disarm deniers that climate OCD types obsess over imagine are hanging out at Real Science.
He was imploring/begging others on the site to take pity on him and to take his Earth shattering information over here and give us all what for. This seems odd to me as I have been banished from discussion boards (who hasn’t?) but I’ve never lowered my self esteem in an attempt to recruit spam bots to inject myself back into a blog conversation.
I’m wondering if Tony might be a little obsessive about Real Science in a fashion similar to say Peter Gleick’s obsession with Heartland?
I suppose since RC blocks about 99% of those who try to post over there, so it came as a bit of a shock to him that a sceptical site would ever dare to do the same to someone making a nuisance of himself.
Green Agenda About Power ,Dictatorial Power – Not The Environment That’s why they want you without a gun and if possible on addictive prescription drugs. The Green Agenda is about Masters and Slaves.Kings and Subjects.
The oil and coal barons agenda is about Master and Slaves. Kings and Subjects.
Oil and coal lifted humanity out of drudgery. We are wealthier, live longer, and eat better than at any time in human history.
Since so-called green energy cannot meet our energy needs, what are we supposed to do? Freeze in our homes? Ban air conditioning in summer? Pay $10 a dollar at the pump?
One thing I do agree with is that the average person does not need to drive a truck. These huge vehicles for people who don’t need them are very wasteful. They are also dangerous because you can’ t see around them. Common sense and high price of gas you would think would change that, but apparently has not.
How is that so? The oil and coal industry offers a good product at market value. A person is free to purchase the product or not. The energy that oil & coal produce allows other eneterprises to create wealth. Where does the the kings and slaves part come in? I’m sure like a good little lib you eschew purchasing any of their evil products, right?
Of course, the oil and coal industry have a valuable product to sell and have made themselves rich but so have the media & movie moguls. The latters’ benefit to society is a little more suspect.
@Andy: “One thing I do agree with is that the average person does not need to drive a truck.”
Agreed. For a while, my wife and I got by on one vehicle (mini-van). I drove it to work every day and hated driving it (not to mention she was at home without a vehicle during the day). I bought a second car and went with a Mazda 3. I now use less gas driving to work (I figure I save at least $100 per month) and she has a vehicle during the day (not that she uses it much … quite rarely, actually). I never liked the idea of S.U.V.’s. The commercials always show them driving off-road to some remote, pristine lake surrounded by forest – as if!
Just wondering. There don’t seem to be any new posts for almost a day. Has something happened to Steven Goddard or to his website … again???
No, I am in Mexico and the Internet is impossibly slow. I will just have to suffer at the beach for a few days.
Thank goodness. Looks like I jumped the gun. Have fun!
It sounds like you may be in a climate danger zone due to an excessively high local mean temperature so be careful.
You have no right to abandon us! We need your full daily dose of truth to counteract all the lies out there. When you don’t post I suffer withdrawal symptoms and as well as extreme depression reading Climate Progress.
In any event, hope you had a great trip and wishing you and yours a great Holiday season.
