Hansen : 250 Feet Of Sea Level Rise

“If you leave us at 450ppm for long enough it will probably melt all the ice – that’s a sea rise of 75 metres. What we have found is that the target we have all been aiming for is a disaster – a guaranteed disaster,” Hansen told the Guardian.

See he can’t even get that right. There is enough land ice to raise sea level 100 meters. Chances are the sea levels will drop 150 meters before they reach their height during the HCO.

Activist and money manager Jeremy Grantham wrote in November:

“The damaging effects of climate change are accelerating. James Hansen of NASA has screamed warnings for 30 years. Although at first he was dismissed as a madman, almost all his early predictions, disturbingly, have proved conservative in relation to what has actually happened.”

Steve, you have noted many of the “madman’s” nutty predictions. Do you have an archive of all of those you have written about?

    • Do a search for Hansen in the search box – you will get thousands of hits!

    • Actually among sensible people he is still dismissed as a madman. It’s true he predicted continued warming and the planet continued to warm, at least up until around 1998. Just no where near as much as he claimed it would, especially in his later predictions. Had someone predicted global cooling back in the ’80’s and had it cooled a bit afterwards, no doubt that or those scientists would have been viewed by some as geniuses today.

I’d like to coin the term “Slow Motion Tsunami” to describe Hansen’s prediction of sea level rising and copyright it here. When he writes a book with that as it’s title, I’ll make a motza from the doofus. Seriously though, he must be thinking “Why is my hypothesis not working?”

That is one nice hockeystick you got there, Mr. Goddard.

  5. If you really want to get his attention, maybe you should post the date that he’ll have to move out of his office.

Remember, his offices are in an 8 story building on the corner of West 112th St. and Broadway in New York City.

A standard “story” is 10 ft, so his whole building (80 ft or 24,384mm above street level) will be under water somewhere around 2030 – probably just in time for his 90th birthday.

He can take his grandchildren on a boat tour, and show them where grandpa’s office used to be.

“If you leave us at 450ppm for long enough it will probably melt all the ice..”

Okay.. how about we set the thermostat to 449 then?

Hansen’s a complete turnip. Just like speed limits divided into rounded decimals, Nature – myself included – care little for absolutes of the human numerical system.

“What we have found is that the target we have all been aiming for is a disaster – a guaranteed disaster”

I wasn’t aware that humanity (the implied ‘we’) has been ‘aiming’ for any specific CO2 level. I am aware that Hansen & company (the actual ‘we’) have built careers on the the hopes that there would be ‘a guaranteed disaster’. The actual disaster is going to be what happens to the climate alarmists when their acolytes realize that their standard of living is declining to no purpose.
