Back when Dems were screaming about the irresponsibility of the deficit under Bush it averaged $320 billion per year. It has been about $1.3 trillion each year since Obama was elected. That’s mainly because spending has been about $550 billion higher than it was in 2008 every year since.
The “stimulus” morphed into regular spending in the subsequent years. Some departments lost some of it, some got even more. The only thing keeping things a little in check is that the Senate has been too scared to pass a budget.
