For the first time, government scientists have revealed how they take Earth’s temperature to an accuracy of 0.01 degrees.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Is that a tribble?
exactly …they take over the temp stations and snuggle and warming them.
btw, only nerds to know what a tribble is… 🙂
Hey, I resemble that remark! After all they are cute and sweet.
I’m not a nerd and I remember the episode ‘The Trouble with Tribbels”
you are showing your age…. or you like re-runs.
Showing my age AND that particular Star Trek episode was used in a Modern Telecommunications class that I took at IU Bloomington. I Loved that class. Even back then in the mid 70s in the age of time shared computers that received input from punch cards and used Fortran and Cobal, the Prof was telling us about the coming of CD and DVD type media, chips for tracking and storage of data like financial and medical records, and so many other things that came to pass.
I also learned something about the tricks the news media used to edit film and video.
Tricks like this?
Freedom Of Deception…”Brave” Leaders Not In Front Row, But Cowered Behind Over One Million Paris Demonstrators
Thermometer or something a little more personal?
Y’know finger on the pulse of (AGW) science sort of thing.
And because the number of stations varies considerably from month to month, as well as the amount of junk food fed to the tribbles…….
…..its like measuring a different tribble each month.
Oops, where is he putting that thermometer !!!!!
Is the cats name Gavin?
dang…I thought it was a dog!
It is a Persian Cat I think.

High maintenance…….. like GISS ! 🙂
Very high maintenance when you include the cost of all the allergy and asthma medication.
And no I am not talking about the cat.
Here is perfect example of one of his posts that makes absolutely no sense to me. Hey, it’s your blog and some times I love it, but about half the time I have no clue what is going on. Oh, well. Nothing new.
That cat is having his temperature taken rectally. Get it now?
Not only that but the cat is nearly spherical.
Which conjures up memories of E.M. Smith’s Article: Assume A Spherical Cow
“I am not trying to calculate a “Global Average Temperature”, I am looking for information about the structure of the temperature data that we have for the planet. Basically, my major goal is to see how big the DATA problem is as a first step….” – E.M. Smith

Larry, you clearly have never taken a selfie after your doctor pulled on his latex gloves.
Better would have been AFTER the doc took off his latex gloves.
Yes, in conventional terms, the contemplative look could mean “I know what will happen to me” or “I know what has happened to me” but more precisely, time has ceased to exist for the cat.
He has moved beyond the constraints and indignities of space-time continuum. The grammar of our language fails us in its insistence on tenses and verb conjugations, singular versus plural, and on irrelevant subject-object relationships. Having been there before, I would describe it thus:
All men know.
Poor kitty; that indignity is nearly as bad as being hired to play both King Theoden and CPT Edward Smith in two blockbuster movies…..

Yup! I remember the episode of Star Trek. They had Tribbles everywhere. FUNNY!
