New York Times : Trump’s Golf Course Doomed in Only 10,000 Years

The New York Times has warned Trump his golf courses are threatened by sea level rise.

Here’s What Trump Really Told NYT About Global Warming | The Daily Caller

I was at the beautiful Trump International Golf Club in Aberdeenshire this summer, and it is only 30 feet above sea level. According to NOAA, sea level is rising there at 0.72 mm/year, which means the course is doomed in only 10,000 years.

Obviously Mr. Friedman’s math and critical thinking skills were lost somewhere along the way.

  2. Scott says:

I did read the entire transcript and frankly, it didn’t make me feel too much better.
The NYT saw what happened to the TV MSM and fooled Trump.

Trump “be-atched” the TV MSM and deservedly so, but then turned right around and go “be-athed” by the NYT.

Partly, I think the Queens Kid is in awe that he could get them to be on his side .
Partly, he just didn’t get the memo that they’ll never quite going after him.

Tony – Please use your sources to the incoming administration and get the real science presentations in Mr. Trumps face. Guys like you are our only hope.

      Trump is doing just fine.

      • garyh845 says:

Actually I agree (perhaps this HT today came from yours truly); imagine the reaction from the audience (not to mention someone like Lester Holt) if challenged with Friedman’s fear mongering, Trump reached into his breast pocket and pulled out an 8 X 10 of the NOAA graphic here – saying, “Lester – America – WTF is Tom Friedman and the NYT’s talking about? This is what it is, and it is not what they are saying. Here is the empirical scientific evidence!!”

The electorate likes pictures – Trump should show them a few . . as you do every day Tony.

        Cheers — Happy T-day!

Something I’m sorta famous (family/ friends) for – hope everyone has a smoked turkey tomorrow.

      • Frank Janecek says:

Your presentations need to be seen by Trump’s children. They are pushing him into Al Gore’s orbit. What are the chances you would take an important position in the new administration?

    • Ross says:

I read the transcript Scott and I think the MSM reporting of the interview was just standard MSM twisting. DT had to be rather vague given he is actually not behind the POTUS desk yet. All he said is that he is thinking about it –he did not give any indication of softening his stance as reported. Plus he made sure they knew that he was listening to others by saying many disagree with the so called consensus.
In any case what he does about the Paris deal is really a minor issue –defunding the NASA climate work, restarting the coal industry , ripping into the EPA , removing obstacles for the oil & gas guys , getting the Keystone pipeline going are the real practical issues that matter.

  3. RAH says:

Only those that take the NYT at their word got “be-atched”. I never bought any of their lines about him “walking back” this or saying that. People are so used to be disappointed I guess that they are just looking for Trump to start going soft on his promises and statements of his objectives.

The left is going to use every trick in their book to sink Trump and try to prevent him from implementing his agenda and the NYT BS was just a psychological trick to try and dent the support of the base that elected him. It ain’t going to work and those reactionary types that start wailing that Trump is failing to keep his promises just need to take a chill pill and wait and see what happens after the man gets in office because going off half cocked right now is EXACTLY what the NYT intended for you folks to do. They will play you every chance they get. Don’t let them!

    • Gail Combs says:

      Trump played the NYT.
Here is the link. Transcript It is quite long so I cut out the parts of the dialog and added my two cents:

      Comment on Clinton
Note TRUMP will do nothing more because he can not and follow the Constitution. It is now up to the legal system.

      Comment on Climate Change
Essentially Trump said he will keep an open mind. Isn’t that what we really want? someone to look at the evidence? Don’t forget his degree is in economics from a top school and that means he has had a LOT of math. This from the guy I had Thanksgiving dinner with who has a PhD in Economics. Econ went math heavy in ~1960 he said.

  4. The answer to this problem is so simple: Give Trump a 10,000-year presidential term so that he’ll have an incentive to stop this impending disaster. With an outlook of just 4 or 8 years, obviously Trump will choose to do nothing.

  5. AndyOz says:

I am starting a crowd funding program to help President Trump build a wall to keep the climate rising sea out of his golf course. We only need about $14 million. There are numerous Dutch contractors willing to firm bid on the contract. I have a Nigerian bank account where you can deposit your donations. :D

  6. gnome says:

Lock her up and in about 10,000 years from now, when she gets out, it will be further evidence of his misogyny, racism and whatever the other things were.

  7. Stephen Richards says:

My understanding is that Scotland is rising while southern England falls as a result of the mass of ice on Scotland 10000 years ago

  8. gator69 says:

I’d keep playing. I don’t think the heavy stuff’s gonna come down for quite awhile.

  9. gator69 says:

Better hurry, that only leaves time for about 29,200,000 rounds. Tick tick…

  10. The ol' Sea dog says:

Few people know that the proper name for Aberdeen is a Aberdeenthehand.

  11. The libertarian party gained over 300% because we have no anti-science agenda and support no looting based on superstition and pseudoscience–including prohibitionism or the gratuitous bullying of pregnant women. Our main candidate also got more spoiler votes than the difference between many blue and red states this last election. Let’s hope for the economy’s sake the new administration focuses more on science and less on faith-based collectivism and the baiting of semitic peoples on the other side of the planet than, say, the Bush Dynasty.

  12. Ross says:

A couple of earthquakes like we had in NZ last week will sort out sea level rise –parts of the shoreline were raised 2-3 meters and the sea floor by up to 6 meters on or near some reefs.

  13. Patrick healy says:

Yes Stephen Richards, here in Carnoustie the local ‘old’ fisher folk are convinced that the land is rising/ sea level falling from the evidence when launching their lobster boats.
Also the iconic Barry Burn has greater difficulty in sending its water burden out to sea as the years go by, as do most river’s on the East Coast of Scotland.
Incidentally, I was fortunate enough to play and stay at President Trumps wonderful golf establishment at Turnberry this year. Having sampled at first hand the style with which he gets things done, I must conclude that the old U S of A is a very lucky nation to have such a man as their leader.
