Another Great Octogenarian Moves On

On Friday evening the finest woman I ever met moved on to her next adventure. My mother was an incredible person, with 85 years of accomplishments as a musician, mother, wife and icon of the community. Few people, if any, did more to bring music and art to New Mexico.

Despite suffering one crippling illness after another for the past 25 years, she never complained once and is my greatest role model. She is always with me. I am in New Mexico this weekend celebrating her amazing life.

The Sangre de Cristo Mountains (where I used to work as a wilderness ranger) are named that because they turn red at sunset in the winter.

You will have difficult moments like we had this year with the loss of both my parents in law (86 and 84) but with the help of real friends you will manage.

Thanks to cheap energy a large part of our population can live a longer and healthier life than ever before.
Let us continue to fight those who want to take that away from humanity and for that we need people like you so that our children too can have a long, healthy and happy life.

    Tony –

So sorry to hear of your loss. Your Mom must have been quite a remarkable lady and passionate about the arts. Sounds like a very positive dynamic balance with your Dad’s career in science and engineering. You live a life that embodies the best of both influences.

I sincerely hope that your good memories will counterbalance the sadness of her “moving on” to otherworldly adventures.

Thanks again for all you have done for the preservation of science and scientific integrity. Looking forward to hearing of your new adventures in influencing “climate” conversation and public policy

Now that we’ve moved to L’ville, hope to get together for a brew at one of many local purveyors of suds

I wish you and your family peace in this time.

My mum passed away 8 weeks ago aged 89.
I miss her voice. I called her every fortnight for the last 20 years to get & give all the news from a very big Australian family – almost 100 kids, grandkids, great gk’s plus outlaws. She asked me sing to her the night before she passed away.
I owe her & my father everything.
